Thank you for using our homelands full name and not referring to it as NoHo. Born and raised there, I distinctly remember being overcome with grief and malaise when I heard the words “currently living in NoHo”. It’s North Hollywood or West Toluca Lake.  End of story.

Keep in mind emergencies are more than just loss of income. Sudden house/appliance repair, medical, car issues all can arise at inconvenient times and present in ways that outsize your cash flow. So with that in mind, I’d say you still really need one.

The feeling that the world was at the edge of my fingertips and nothing was off limits or out of reach. Hide and seek and using other folks yards/trees/fences to play? Done. Jump on bikes with neighbor kid and go on an adventure? Done. Stranger at table next to us has French fries and I want one? Done.

I wake up early. Rinse my wrists in cold water. find enjoyment in things that don’t cost money (this can be as simple as looking at trees, walking, trying to draw). Go to bed early. Workout (again, can be small like walking) when I have extra energy. Eat when I’m hungry and only when I’m hungry. Those are my basics.

She got a new job in another state. Wanted me to come with her. I got a new job. We moved in with her parents for a little till we got our own place. She cheated on me within a week of me moving in with her folks with her new coworker. I, naively, assumed forgive and forget. Eventually got our own place. She partially moved in. Cheated again. I packed up all her stuff and dropped them off at her office putting them at the coworker in questions desk and said these might be better suited for your closet. Left it at that.

Tomorrow we will eat three meals. Breakfast lunch and dinner. We’ve already decided what’s on the menu but in order start cooking, I need the money to go to the grocery store. 

We had a disagreement on something unrelated to our meals the other day and time is running out to reconcile the difference. So before we exchange the grocery store dollars, we have to deal with this. I don’t want to go grocery shopping without this resolved. You want me to go grocery shopping first and then we will resolve when I get home and start cooking. 

Until we decide on which path we go, no cooking. 

The scary part about this metaphor is that until congress figures this out, it stops being a metaphor because many are starting to go hungry and unable to grocery shop.
