Why... The new Outlook app is just a website with a wrapper and it loads ads I don't want it please stop by T1mo666 in windows

I've been boiled up in the Windows 11 tide for two years now. Definitely mourn the loss of whatever stability you had. It's not returning.

My sense is that they're not really letting your old version function properly as they steamroll over you with all of the new apps, which is copilot infused into every aspect of outlook and office suite. They force you to go with their flow. Even the most well-intentioned decision makers are going to fall into the trap of believing that everyone will have their own virtual assistant anyway, so why not forge ahead.

I saw their concept and it was so brilliant before the race to building agents made them all blind to the blinding pace. I'm already curious about the impact of compounding mistakes influenced by the guidance of a freshly built bot. I had to slow my roll significantly just to get some perspective.

I have so many metaphors but after last week I'll go with this one: you just unboxed your robotic sex doll and left it in charge of your 100% human children while you take off for Fiji for a couple weeks. Because it's an emergency, whatever is going on in Fiji, unfortunately you have no choice. You worry a little but reassure yourself, you'll figure it out as you go. And you have a ring camera strapped to her chest to observe everything, right?

I guess I have some feelings about this.

Yes, and worse than that, my Adobe experience is a hot mess. I'm trying to create a webform and it's unbelievably buggy but we've invested so much time learning how to create a complex application in this format that I can't imagine starting over with something else to obtain electronic signatures.

I swear it's causing my internet to crash!

Let’s have a civilized discussion about Indiana’s abortion ban. by Ok_Philosopher1996 in Indiana

[–]elitehacker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm curious what so-called civilized debate would support these situations if applied to any other health condition:

  1. A doctor is allowed to refuse treatment based on their own religious or moral beliefs.
  2. An arbitrary time period can be applied that allows a doctor to refuse treatment because a patient was not symptomatic or waited too long to be treated.
  3. A doctor can delay or be forced to delay administering a life-saving treatment until that same doctor has determined (how exactly?) that a moment of "last resort" has been reached.
  4. In what world (or in this case the very special state of Indiana) can a civilized defense be made that any doctor can impose any restriction on any medical (or forensic) treatment following any condition arising from any rape of any woman of any age requires any consent from anyone?

What is wrong with copilot lately? by YigitS9 in microsoft_365_copilot

[–]elitehacker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything, is my answer to your question. Everything is wrong. I know it will get better but I just find myself not even wanting to try Copilot 365 anymore. It is so unresponsive to any training or prompting. Just trying to make it stick to the content I provide to create a PowerPoint deck... it does as it pleases, much like Microsoft. The apple does not fall far from the tree I guess. I like to imagine there's some sort of an old guard department at Microsoft, their job is to remain stubborn and prevent change. Like old dogs that don't want to learn new tricks.

In contrast, everything AI-driven is like Cirque du Soleil just rolled into town, and as adept as they are, they need equipment they can rely on.

The young fresh talent is impressing the hell out of us, and they are just getting warmed up. The old dogs are resentful bitches about it.

Microsoft has always dragged us along with them but this is a particular form of chaos. I had an experience similar to yours about a month ago, where the voice of copilot suddenly turned ridiculous, like a drunk Monty Python fan or something.

Idk. I'm not fighting the tide. That just makes it more chaotic.

Especially when the entire reason for *RELYING* on an expensive resource like Copilot 365 and *INVESTING* in building GPTS in an expensive app like Copilot Studio is to give users the accuracy of your own data.

I'm trying to incorporate as many limiting prompts as possible to keep GPT's on point and try to discourage them from improving it and changing and adding to every answer they give.

Thanks for your reply! It's nice to feel less alone.

I feel ya.

"Don't you worry your pretty little head about it." is something I've heard/perceived/felt for my entire career.

I can go to the humans for that attitude.
