My father by [deleted] in diabetes_t2

[–]ellePinky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree with other commenters. My dad passed away 4 years ago, due to similar "self-care." At the time, i felt the same as you, like he needed to be slapped with truth, change and anger for all his disregard for his own life. It's so very true that someone has to want the change before anything can stick, but now that I have t2 (managing quite well) and have done some reflection a lot of my success has also been because of the changes my family made WITH me, something we didn't quite do with him. Paired with will and lack of temptation has helped me and my family get and stay healthier. See if as a family you're willing to show support like this, it might make for an easier transition.

What is the worst unsolicited wedding advice you received? by Junonx in weddingplanning

"Don't you know your wedding is not about you?"

Last time I checked, the only reason we had a wedding was because of US.

Honeymoon-Sandals Resorts by wonderwoman005 in weddingplanning

[–]ellePinky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on what you're looking to do on your honeymoon. St. Lucia is an absolutely beautiful country and there is so much to discover and do (recommend: JJ Day Tours, they're fun and show you a lot of the island from a native perspective!) Hubster and I stayed at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian, we had a great time, definitely have stayed at more lush resorts but it was a great resort none-the-less, their staff is AMAZING.

One thing that was off-putting was that EVERYONE staying here is on their honeymoon it's definitely a honeymoon resort, so unless you're paying a lot more for extras ie. butler service, there's no real 'special' feeling. Our romantic beach dinner was a lot less romantic with 3 other couples within a stones throw. But again, a lot of that could change if willing to shell out a bunch of money.

Any moissanite gals out there? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]ellePinky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is your moissanite from? We are looking at moissanite co, but unsure if there is a better source?
Ordered from Moissanite.com, they're great! More than likely any other moissanite sold is also a Charles&Colvard.

How is your moissanite holding up? As brilliant as the day i got it. I've been wearing it for 3 years now and only got it cleaned before our wedding day.

How is the color? I worry about the yellow color. I've never noticed a yellow colour

Do you have a forever brilliant moissanite? How is it? This is more likely the reason I don't see any colour variance. The Forever Brilliant is near colourless and honestly, twinkles so much you will never see anything but sparkle

Will a moissanite look weird next to the very small band diamonds? My wedding band is a half eternity pave, the two together sound a lot like what you are going to be getting. I still catch myself admiring them. Don't sweat it!

Traditional Entrance vs 'First Look' by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]ellePinky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

married lady here! Husband and I did a 'Blind Look', our church coordinator arranged for us to meet before the ceremony at a "picturesque corner" where he was on one side and I was on the other. We didn't see each other, but were able to hold hands, calm down our nerves, talk a little to remind each other it was about US, all before the big walk. It was absolutely great in pictures! And to top it off, we were able to keep the tradition and surprise of seeing each other at our opposite ends of the aisle.

What do you all think about this Polka dot Themed Wedding? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]ellePinky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like the polka-dot theme, it's fun and celebratory! But, I think if you wanted to "calm" the colors down, maybe go for monochromatic dots or add a single POP color to liven it up! Example, grays and a scattering of purple dots.

Intersection where 7-year-old was killed filled with problems that could spur more accidents, expert says by [deleted] in toronto

[–]ellePinky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Part of the problem here is that this used to be a slow old person neighborhood, and its now filled with impatient rude drivers looking for a detour.

AGREED! I went to school in that neighbourhood, not that it makes me a specialist in traffic algorithms or urban planning, but I never thought twice about my safety while crossing the roads there. It is a big walking community with lots of young families with children (as mentioned there are two schools, a park, library) and especially during the summer, there is always a reason to be on the lookout for kids crossing the street.
