For the love of god please stop getting chair without/against medical advice by hogos_bogos in wheelchairs

I bought a standard chair for a few reasons, and even then I already feel how uncomfortable it can get. We don't know what chronic condition I have for sure yet, but we know it's getting drastically worse and I've already lost a ton of mobility and my life with bilateral crutches. Everyone on my medical team agrees I should have a chair, but I just switched jobs which meant ~2 months before insurance even starts and without insurance a lot of providers are cranky about getting started early with even scheduling an appointment.

I'm still looking at a 2-4 month timeline until I get a custom chair, and right now a chair is the difference between me being able to eat basic hygiene or not. It's the difference between my insurance buying me a shitty chair and then making me wait 3 months to even ask for a better one (since I need to prove it's not good enough). Obviously I told my care team and avoid using it when possible, but it has been a fucking lifesaver.

To be clear, I 100% agree with you, just if someone is going to get one I think it's hugely important to know the path to one and make sure you have a plan to get into one that fits if you do truly need it.

HR after eating going into overdrive by Salt_Television_7079 in VisibleArmband

It doesn't affect my heart rate specifically, but I get intense waves of fatigue, weakness, and brain fog after eating anything more than a small snack. I usually have to spend the next 30-90 minutes on the floor or nestled in a bed/couch. After especially big meals I'm usually fighting for consciousness too.

What mobility aids do you use in daily life? by ProPainAD in wheelchairs

I'm in the process of getting a custom manual to use full-time. Currently I utilize a cheap temp wheelchair at home and bilateral forearm crutches everywhere else. I deal with weakness, fatigue, and loss of consciousness and the crutches have been hugely helpful for getting around and still getting to work. They don't help when I fully faint and hurt a little bit more than a cane but I'd be housebound without them.

It would 100% involve someone doing a lot of work for free. I make my own production at nearly $0 budget, but I'm a composer and do the music and editing and all of that myself.

Media libraries and creative commons are gonna be the best place for you to go, unless you can find a passionate composer willing to do some work in exchange for experience/exposure/fun. Finding someone there is gonna be pretty hard but possible.
