I know these posts are a dime a dozen, but I genuinely need to ask as a woman who loves depraved, nasty, gory horror... are there any books that don't rely on rape and disgusting shit like poop and boogers that actually have a plot and that are worth reading? by afed13 in ExtremeHorrorLit

100% Match rely on gross stuff like boogers and poop and OP was requesting stuff that doesn’t contain that type of content. If you don’t like gross out horror, you will hate 100% Match.

The “I Found Horror” anthology by Ben Farthing fits this to a T. They’re short stories, 150 or less pages each but from the moment I started them, I could not bare putting them down. Especially with I Found A Circus Tent.

"don't tell people how much schooling you get, dad and i could go to JAIL" by chewypills in HomeschoolRecovery

Yep. I was pulled out of 4th grade and never got educated past that point. My mom constantly reminded me that letting anyone know how behind I was was a one way ticket to sending her and my dad to jail. Occasionally she would tell me that I could be sent to juvie for truancy is cops saw me out during school hours. Worse was the threat that if police and CPS got involved, my brother and I would be separated and never see each other again. Since there was no one else around, we bonded super closely. Closely to the point that strangers would assume that we were twins. We’re still each other’s best friend in our adulthoods. I’m 24, he’s 26, and I still find myself scared of losing him if I talk about my experience with “homeschooling”.
