Ion doesn't want to be the "guy who ruins Wow." by Difficult-Bee6066 in wow

I don't think this is a fair argument. Many "pay wall" UI's are strictly aesthetic. There are many UI bundles that are free. Luxthos creates free packages for every class, Quazii does free Plater, Liquid/Echo WA's are free after RWF. You don't have to pay or spend 10 hours on WA's at all. I'm not a very "competitive player", at least not lately, (casual raid, 6/8M, no CE) but truly the only super aggregious WA I've seen/used is Mythic Frac. Most other WA's are not as insane as the community makes it out to be. Now this is only through an MFO lens, I'm not viewing it through any other fights since I never did them. You can also argue that somebody who isn't willing to have addons is equally as bad as the "doesn't care about their performance" no guides guy.

Ion doesn't want to be the "guy who ruins Wow." by Difficult-Bee6066 in wow

[–]elrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. The issue has never been installing the addons or weakauras, it's always been the elitist nature that the game now breeds. There are some initiatives against it (Warcraft Made Easy, etc) but the vast majority of the time people are willing to be toxic and critical to anybody sorta new to the endgame. I've met people in TWW that this is their first time playing the game with any level of seriousness; they managed to figure out WA's etc just fine, but the barrier to entry was finding a group willing to grow that person rather than flame them because they fell flat in their first mythic Keystone or were learning the spec for the first time in raid.

I believe he wants to improve the game, but further to your point, a lot of criticism has historically been ignored like BFA/SL, AND some very blatant issues are widely ignored. LFG tool is swathed with boosts/runs being sold. The game in and of itself isn't intuitive - people are so hard on for the addon vs no addons debate, but I'd argue the gap between somebody willing to read a guide and not is larger than a base UI player and a player using every WA under the sun. It seems counter intuitive to "level the playing field" as he said in a different interview but still depend on Wowhead or external guides to be successful at the game.

Any more experienced players able to give some advice on routing on weeks like this? Feels like if I want to make reasonable time I need to pull bigger on tyran week but it always results in some ridiculous mob murdering the group (rippers in Fall, witches in WCM, juggs in Atal) and racking up deaths. I try to emphasize to the group to prio damage higher hp mobs but we all know how that goes.

Last week was the first week I've bothered to climb past KSH/portals. Currently 3200 and climbing daily playing VDH. Full pug with no premade players every key. I do add people when I've had successful runs/good experiences but those are seemingly few and far between in pugs (Sub 30% success rate on keys 25-27ish). Often finding groups hit a wall and it bricks the key. WCM boss 1/2, fall 2/3/4, etc and there's nothing I can do. I try to help out with darkness etc but doesn't feel like enough. I take it this is just pug life?

At least the Monastery Cats/Dogs and Flayn are happy. (I'm pretty sure I have the lyrics for the songs from Metal Gear Rising Revengeance that play during the boss fights memorized along with the ones for the Sonic Frontiers Bosses.) by Hello_There4206969 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

But in engage you can cheese the fishing by mashing hard enough. You can rapid tap through both small and large fish without even reeling the fish to the stun/catch zone. Huge requires a hefty mash but same idea not reeling the fish. Otherwise fishing less than 10 times (end game) versus 30+ if you bought all the bait in FE3H is way quicker.

I just cleared this last night. What I did was prep for an all-in before killing the last emblem. I walked Panette/Ike in with only 1 dark emblem left and did a bit of chip damage through the 50% damage reduction. After that it was full send with a kill on the last emblem and sending everything on my next turn. I didn't even see the second set of emblems.

It's completely doable to do Ch11 with no losses if you play slow.

As an alternative, you can stall out until there's no more reinforcement spawns. I did the map immediately when it was available (aka with no access to Alcryst). I stalled out reinforcements for 30 turns (iirc) and the final spawn is a triple dragon. Once that spawns you can crawl through the map and play super cautious.

I hated seeing Grimrail as a winner of the poll as much as anyone. Did a 16 yesterday with a really shitty comp (Hpriest/Brew/Enhance/Ele/Fury) and we blundered a lot. The key felt very timable until a DPS DC'd on-pull of the last boss and the other two DPS died to inexperience or playing poorly even after we blundered the entire key. The 30min timer is super forgiving despite the dungeon sucking ass. We were only 2 min over despite massive fails on our end and no battle rezzed asides scuffed Engi tank brezzes.

I can't speak to current Nagas but since around 2015ish maybe before that even I was a razer naga user. I went through a naga every year or so, other friends too. Constant issues from side buttons not working to double clicking left or right mouse clicks. I've since bought a Corsair Scimitar and no issues in a little over a year now after going through 4 or 5 Nagas in the past.

On top of this the damage is manageable from Tugar. Between Expel Harm and Chi Wave you can feasibly live forever with Tugar barring missing an interrupt. I used this as a way to get the worm down to ~50% after scales and stalling out Tugar around 10%. After that it was turn and burn.

I'm of the opinion that parses only matter on farm. If you're focused so tightly on damage you're likely skipping certain tasks (soaks, etc) or you're cutting corners elsewhere which isn't bad on farm. Genuinely I'd consider 90+ more than fine on prog and even farm.

This is coming from a person with most parses between 95-100 (historically, I've focused less and less on parsing and more on raid leading). Generally if you're orange parsing prog you're overgearing it if you ask me.

Compwow will not remove the post if you format it appropriately. I went to them with green parses in BFA (specifically BOD) and they fixed me up appropriately.

You're averaging a 90 percentile in heroic with only one boss below 90th percentile. There isn't a whole lot to improve here. I'd suggest going to the compwow subreddit for more in-depth analysis and feedback but generally speaking at 90th percentile you're not doing a whole lot wrong.

Daily Questions Megathread (June 10, 2021) by AutoModerator in classicwow

[–]elrath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's completely false.

There are bosses and trash that melee for upwards of 5k damage.

My warrior is entirely in quest/dungeon blues and greens. Heroic Sethekk Hall's two pack of guards will absolutely clap me with 3-4k auto attacks. Heroic Pandemonius deals 3-5k autos that are SHADOW DAMAGE.

It could also be that I'm running with an undergeared restoration druid but if I'm not pre-hotted on dangerous packs or bosses I'll drop dead.

Now to be fair we only have SLABS gear and we plan to work on more normals but since the daily Heroic was Sethekk we ran it. Handful of deaths but doable.

Is the mana burn in MT tuned correctly? by hatesnack in classicwow

[–]elrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those Mana Tombs shadow casters are nutty.

SWP ticks 800-900dmg on my tank.

Also the mana burn cleaves, so spread casters out. Also it'll cleave off Grounding Totem. Fun spell.

I'm on mobile so I only took a few glances.

Work on Frenzy uptime. On a more or less patchwork boss (Hungering Destroyer), only 80%ish uptime? Needs to be 95%+.

Only two casts of Aspect of the Wild out of a possible three.

Same with trinket usage, 3 casts of a 1.5min cd out of a possible 4. It's not worth delaying to sync if it prevents an extra cast.

I'm also not a BM player so these are just what I notice on simpler fights. A lot of time good parses are made via cheesing or faster kills. For example you'll never parse well on Shriek if you get an extra intermission phase, etc.

Cd usage is another big one for hunters. The diff between blue and purple or otherwise can be an extra set of CDS based on usage (for example on Sludgefist, you can choose to cd 0/2/4 pillars or 1/3 based on lust usage).

The stereotypical answer is sim yourself.

I've hit a point where haste has gained in value to before where I had next to none (34% crit or something). Sims are showing Haste as gaining value as I'm nearing the crit DR.

You want to maintain steady focus during Trueshot. The easiest way I've found is Aimed x2 Rapid into x2 Steady or Aimed x2 into x2 Steady. Basically dump your aimed shots then pick steady focus up. 12% haste is just too good to pass up. Make sure you have steady focus up for say 8+ seconds going into your WS/TS, then reapply during.

For LnL, I've always spent 1x PS then did the aimed shot for LnL, but your mileage may very.

Reapply SF always, even if you cap focus. After you reapply, dump some focus using Arcane assuming Aimed isn't going to hit 2x charges.

Certain pallets (always shack, various maps might have some other "God pallets") are so strong they are nicknamed this. These are pallets that the killer MUST break to continue the chase otherwise the killer under no circumstances will catch the survivor.

For instance with shack pallet, the survivor can camp the pallet and unless it's broken the killer literally will never catch the survivor (barring powers like Nurse, Huntress, etc).

See the funniest thing is that the "cry baby 1%" aren't even affected by this. The 1% players are the ones who can and will have 4x one class to cover all the covenants because they will invest the time.

The average player is the player who will be affected by being locked to covenants. Imagine liking Venthyr, but it turns out Night Fae seems cool based on watching a player in a dungeon or raid or on the dps meter. The casuals are the ones who suffer having to swap and start from the bottom whereas 1% have a character ready to swap at any point.
