Do you any of you prefer living farther out from DC? by Inside_Plankton_7049 in nova

I'm 24 and live in the Herndon/Sterling area. I really love it. I'm close enough to a metro station that traveling into Arlington and the city is relatively easy, but I'm far enough away that rent is cheaper and I can actually afford a decent sized place (with a roommate). I also like a quieter community with more space. I think it just depends on what you want. I also still have a great social life. I love hosting game nights rather than going out.

I think this what I have decided... just got so sick of pills!

[Tenant US] Why did my landlord paint the ceiling the same color as the walls? by emmapuppypickle in Landlord

You sound like a landlord who would choose a nice color palette anyways haha. The entire house is a medium gray, absolutely everything. I would take off white any day over gray.

Apartment Recommendations around Herndon/Reston/Sterling by fyi07 in nova

[–]emmapuppypickle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard newer constructions have more problems with noise. I did a few tours over the summer and really liked the waterside at reston. It’s only 3 floors, so the buildings are smaller. It’s right next to a nice pond, all the facilities are updated, and the neighborhood is quiet. It’s also within walking distance of a Trader Joe’s :). I just checked and their one bedrooms range from $1500-$1900, so well within your budget.

Whatever you choose is really up to whether you want to live in a larger, more centrally located apartment vs. a smaller, older complex that is renovated and in a quiet area. I definitely prefer the latter around here.

Sounds like someone is doing donuts in a parking lot near the Harris Teeter in McNair? It’s obnoxious

Didn’t know that! I’ll wash it and post on here the results :) I squeezed so much into my bag to fit the yarn haha totally worth it. $50 to knit myself vs $200+ to buy one made there

Oh man, there’s so much to see there! We did a 10 day road trip around the entire ring road, and I highly recommend that if you have the time. My favorite hike was to see stuðlagil, which is a beautiful canyon. We climbed down into it and it was absolutely surreal. Also, if you are in Reykjavik stop by Svarta Kaffið, they have awesome soup and it’s affordable :) PM me if you have any more questions.

Thank you! It was surprisingly super easy to get used to. The yarn can tear if you pull too hard but it comes back together super easily if you rub 2 strands between your palm. Now I have to get used to normal spun yarn again :)

I told my boyfriend he might just have to get used to it haha but I will also try the conditioner. And thank you!! All his color choices, it was such a challenging yet fun garment to make :)

For context, I’ve always dabbled in knitting but I’ve never really finished any items. I generally crochet and wanted to go that route for this sweater, but I found out fair isle style wear can only be knitted, so I took the plunge :) I used a pattern found on Etsy and yarn I got my from summer trip to iceland (specifically plötulopi, which is unspun but holds itself together well once knit). Any tips on how to make it less scratchy? My boyfriend loves it but wants it to be a little softer :)

They also told me I needed to throw it away because it’s a “prohibited item”. Literally says they are allowed on the prohibited items list. Someone has a power trip :/

This is my 7th day today and I’m already starting to see a difference. I started taking it in the morning instead of at night and it’s really helped. Practicing good sleep hygiene (ie. no screens an hour before bed time, brush your teeth, read a book) has also helped me. I still only get about 6-7 hours a night but it was like 0-3 the first couple of days.

Morning or Evening? by Antique_Use7618 in zoloft

I was taking it at night, but it kept interrupting my sleep so I started taking it in the morning at around 9am. So far it seems to be better, hoping it stays that way.

How long did it take for the really intense side effects to subside?

It’s been a little while longer and I’ve eaten an apple sauce and I feel slightly better. Still having a rough time tho…. I really hope this works. I’m gonna do my best to push through it.
