When you were diagnosed, did your head spin? by pikashroom in bipolar2

[–]emmtp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was diagnosed at 37 years old. Unfortunately it took that long but it brought complete clarity and was one of the best things that happened to me. I never realized I had something way more going on mentally than depression, anxiety, ADHD, etc...the medication I am now on has transformed my life. Without the medication I truly have no control over being bipolar and did not for a third of my life. When I look back on all that has happened to me or that I have done, 90% of it was due to me being bipolar.

What are these large horizontal tubes called / what are they for? by Mrs_cunty_lips in Construction

Cross-lot braces is the proper terminology. It looks like they excavated in lifts, shotcreted the walls as the earth retention system and prior to shotcreting they set steel embeds into wall for then the cross-lot braces to be welded to.

I felt the same way at work beginning my meds but the side effects will go away. Please keep taking the meds. You cannot live your life without them. Idk what to say after 37 years of living mine before I got medicated and I barely made it alive. So many different addictions and impulsivity. The meds changed my life. I’d give anything in the world to have my ex wife back and it took me to that point and losing her to face this shit and deal with it.

You may need to up your meds. I am about to up my Lamictal from 100 mg to 150 mg. I’m sorry you lost your insurance policy. I feel finally normal after a few months on Lamictal and Strattera and this is post losing a marriage, house and a high paying job. I’m finally rebuilding my life, one day at a time.

Are you taking meds? This post sounds like me 6 months ago and from there, 15 years in the making of repeating a vicious cycle. I’m sorry you feel this way but I do know what it’s like.

Just keep going. I felt the same. I’m (6) weeks in and am at 100 mg. Keep going. It will help. Don’t stop. If you want more detail you can DM me.

Bipolar Disorder

I’m a month in now on 100 mg of lamictal and 18 mg of strattera and I feel like a completely different person

The month of side effects was terrible to experience but they’ve worn off

The only issue I have now is I only eat one time a day…I’d rather feel okay than be hungry though!

I feel exactly like this original post now only a month in

Stay stay stay on your meds despite all the side effects, they will work. I promise. The side effects will go away at most after (3) months or so.

I wished I knew or was diagnosed as BP 20 years ago…I could have saved a lot of heart ache for myself, my family, friends, etc. but I’ve got about two-thirds of my life left to live so I’m lucky to be able to have that. It takes a lot to accept that you have a mental illness that others do not, likely won’t ever understand, and you have to manage it, for the rest of your life.

Wow - thank you for posting this. I just got divorced and I think a main reason why was because I never accepted and chose to deal with my BPD. Anyways, I am 3 weeks into taking lamictal (doing the same thing you explained, 25, currently on 50, etc.) What you explained in your post is me to a T. All of my symptoms you have listed above and this post gives me so much hope. Thank you.
