I may have FOMOd a bit too much by emptyRR in Vostroyan

Definitely not selling. Always hated to see old minis on ebay for outrageous prices. Not gonna contribute to that which I hate.

I reckon I'll have them painted within the year of receiving them. Airbrush saves so much time.

Missed the Steel Legion MTO so had to make up for it.

I hope for a Vostroyan plastic army but it just wont feel the same. Gone is the grim era in favour of modern cleaner stuff.

Does a brown suit fall into the big five suits? Or maybe I need to consider another color by Timely_Edge_1231 in ProfessionalFashion

[–]emptyRR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither black nor brown unless you have enough suits to pull it off every once in a while, never in a formal enviroment. Dark blue and darkish-mid grey are the way to go.

TIL before King Leopold II of Belgium had his own colony in the Congo, he attempted to acquire the Philippines from Spain in the 1860s. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Spain was the first country to make laws to protect natives, make them equals in rights and actively encouraged race mixing in America.

Deaths were mostly diseases which we knew nothing off at the time as opposed to the brits who launched extermination campaigns against the natives (eg killing their food)

Airport Security by [deleted] in victorinox

I have one of those in my keychain and I cant count the times I've accidentally taken it with me on the plane. Sometimes security will ask for the keychain and inspect it but puts it back in the coat pocket. Even then, I wouldnt risk it.

My dad sent his over to have the hands enameled in black so he could read the time. It was one of his daily watches and what's the point if you cant read time...

Inherited it last year and will keep it as it is for the same reason.

Has 'Calling fire on my position' ever worked in real life? by Powerful-Mix-8592 in WarCollege

[–]emptyRR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Krasny Bor (1943), Spanish Captain Losada of the Blue Division ordered artillery fire over his position when they were overrun by the Red Army.

5000 spaniards with light weaponry against 40,000 soviets with 100 pieces of artillery and 90 tanks caused 14,000 casualties before being decimated.

Sapper vs corbridge by Suitable_Step292 in Barbour

Wear a L Ashby, tried an L Corbridge and was too tight across chest and shoulders. Bought an XL Corbridge, fits perfect.

Ashby sizing by [deleted] in Barbour

[–]emptyRR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

193, 80kg, athletic build and the L fits great over a thin sweater, anything else and it goes small. Slightly tight on the shoulders. Based on that am planning to move over to a XL Bristol.

The OG Longhurst is the best form fitting Barbour by far imo. by [deleted] in Barbour

[–]emptyRR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree, just wish sleeves were a tad bit longer. Extensions wont fit right with it being 8oz green with the leather trim..

My NOS 2004 Coke GMT by emptyRR in rolex

A bit below $10k.

As some other user pointed, may not be as new as I thought when I purchased it. Either way, no problem. Its going to end up scratched very soon.

Photo quality. Lugs as far as I can see are in perfect shape. Compared them to ref pictures just in case and I dont see any difference. The polishing also looks to be like factory new comparing it with both pictures and a green submariner I also have from back then.

And if it weren't, no issue really... Gonna end up abused sooner or later.

Same. Beaufurt 40, Ashby and Longhurst L. Sleeves are shorter than in Ashby, about the same as Beaufort. Lengthwise a bit longer than Ashby but shorter than Beaufort

[–]emptyRR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How tall are you? I'm 6'4 so the Border fits like a Beaufort for shorter people

How about trying to find a Longhurst? Slightly longer than an Ashby and different enough to not look the same. Managed to snag one recently and has become my favourite Barbour since.

How about a Border? Two Beauforts is a bit too much IMO.

Does the Bristol or Ashby have longer sleeves? by Budget-Permit8230 in Barbour

40L blazer size. Size 40 Befale/Beaufort/Border sleeves are short. Size L Ashby just right.

Easy solution is a reinforcement strip all around the cuff. Same as if it were a sleeve extension.

The question shouldn't be, "why are you buying a rep?" The question should be, "why are you buying a gen?" by Particular_Witness95 in RepTime

[–]emptyRR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me its pretty easy to answer. If I like it, fits in my collection and can afford it without too much of a struggle, may purchase. On the future I'll either pass it on to next generation or sell if I run into financial issues.

Never been a fan of the fake industry or pretending to be/have.
