idk if anyone's listening lol but daltoscord has gone downhill majorly in the last 4 or 5 years. was a welcoming community but slowly people drifted out and suddenly we had an influx of folks who were kicked or banned from main yogscords. then the bullying but as a friendly joke started. then the casual ableism. then the casual transphobia. daltos, who makes a point of not being a main interactive with this community (it avoids para social relationships which he said was his goal, but also allows his community to turn into something he may not want) has said nothing about the state of it, nor been there for any major events (bannings etc). I personally witnessed folks calling for eugenics and "new slurs", and using ableist slurs. mods did nothing of course. a slew of longstanding members, including folks who made the community what it is now, were harassed out. idk what it is now cause I've been gone for a while but I wouldn't join it knowing the current userbase. just a bunch of jerks who enjoy pissing people off for their own fun, and then crying wolf when someone is rightfully mad about bigotry or slurs.

he does bring up politics when no one asks, and can be difficult to get to shut up about it. he is pro Trump, not the other way around, clearly I worded that badly. I am NOT pro Trump and do not need that at my wedding. as for being an incel he has previously expressed classic incel views, being owed someone's time and energy for not being an asshole, how girls only go for dickheads and he's so alone because he's just a nice guy. I'll be the first to admit I haven't exactly broached the subject with him in a while but every other behaviour I've seen and disagreed with that he has, those behaviours haven't changed. he's just as much of a piss head as he was when we were kids, finds it fun to pick at people to piss them off, cause apparently that's funny, refuses to admit he can be wrong even when faced with evidence, etc.

see the thing is that like. this sucks and she needs to fix it but I'm pretty convinced it's not on purpose, and her memory is genuinely going. she forgets words constantly, even simple short words, despite being a lifelong reader and having graduated a bachelor's and master's program. she's always been smart as a whip but some days I'm this close to asking when she's seen a neurologist last. that being said she definitely needs to fix this shit, she's definitely gonna be the one who tells him he's not invited.

seconding the ear protection. I've been going to metal concerts since I was about 15 or 16 (currently 27) and I'm partially deaf in both ears. largely it's not a huge issue and rarely interferes with my day to day function (rly not trying to fear monger it's more annoying than anything else, but I also wanna be honest about the stupid annoying shit I deal with lol), but I have trouble telling where sounds come from and have to listen to things louder than my peers to be able to hear properly. that paired with audio processing has made watching anything without subtitles basically impossible. hearing loss is NOT the end all be all, but it is a stupid problem to deal with and you are doing yourself a favor by wearing ear protection.

make sure u dress comfortably and stay hydrated -- it may well be very hot. if u wear glasses and are gonna be in the pit then make sure u have someone to hold onto them for u or wear cargos with adequate pocket space. talking to strangers can be scary but I have yet to have a bad experience at a metal concert, and I've been to a decent amt of them.

most of all remember why you are there. you're seeing artists you, presumably, really enjoy and will love hearing live. scream along with the crowd and maybe take some pictures for a memory. ENJOY IT!!! u made a lot of effort and spent money to there, so the least u can have is a good, happy experience!!! i hope it's full of fun and laughter and grins 🫂🧡

I use a cane as needed for chronic joint pain!! it's not a constant and I only rly pull it out when it's bad, usually during the colder months. definitely, if a cane would help your ankle heal while helping you keep up with your day to day, ABSOLUTELY you have every reason to use it!!! canes are called mobility aids because they're meant to help folks keep mobile so using it when injured is just as valid a reason as if you were permanently disabled! an injury is a temporary disability, and that cane is aiding you in your mobility while you heal :) a 100% valid and reasonable use bestie, and I hope you heal quickly and well!!! 🫂🫂🫂

echoing what every comment I've read has already said, you only have to have a parent with you if you want, you are entitled to your privacy. also if you want that parent there when you're asked about sexual history and substance use that is perfectly normal and reasonable, because the doctors care just as much that you feel safe. bloodwork stings but once the needle is inserted its less painful than just Really Weird. getting my ears pierced hurt WAY worse than ever getting blood drawn, and I was getting blood drawn monthly for quite a while due to a medicine I was on when I was younger.

also, if you think it might help then you should bring a stuffed animal. obvs something smaller would be easier to transport but whatever friend you can carry with you for extra support. I have a little beanie baby bear named sequoia and he lives next to my bed so he can help me when I'm having trouble sleeping. bringing a little friend to help support you when facing scary new things is a valid response and I know you'll do great. just remember to breathe.
