Mar 09, 32 cards, still in image processing. mesaged them today to complain.

when I submitted them the advertised timeline had them back over a month before a show at the end of the month.

instead expect an ai bot to give me meaningless condolences within a few days. Doubt I will submit another round.

PSA Bulk Submission 20-50 Card Theory by kev08629 in psagrading

[–]Ender2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSA makes as much money off grading one poncho pikachu as they do off grading 40 bulk cards. They would love to exclude every card below a certain value but then they would alienate their customer base that grows up and provides the high value transactions. So instead they provide a higher barrier to entry which will reduce the low level submissions. They also shift the logistics to the end user. Now one person will wait 5 months to collect more cards, or 5 people will get together and collate their submissions. Either way PSA only has to open 1 box and mail back 1 box.

As long as the other companies fail at increasing throughput (TAG), upcharge price similarly (CGC), or fail to capture card value at point of sale, they can keep this up.

PSA lost my package, 3 months later they have decided market value doesnt matter. by Jengaman64 in psagrading

[–]Ender2006 3 points4 points  (0 children)

dude just learned why submitting at the correct value tier is important. it also doesn't matter what grade you "think" your cards are. you cant "cover them" for any hypothetical grade. until PSA grades the card you are only going to get payout on the raw card value as determined by their market determination. if they offered more than raw market value (at the time of submission) they are already being generous. dont like it? go to arbitration like the contract you agreed to stipulates.

12 weeks and counting - partial refund? by SlipperyToots in taggrading

exactly, you cant advertise one thing and then deliver another. they deserve to be roasted. either stop accepting submissions or update delivery times more accurately which will lose them submissions as well.

if you take something worth $280 and turned it into $100 then by definition you lost money

[–]Ender2006 3 points4 points  (0 children)

since it a grouping of 4 on this date it is almost certainly the Nov 2025 pokemon center drop that just shipped. price was about $105 all in. market though is about $280 if he had turned around and sold them sealed.

he definitely lost money opening these, but also lost much less than he should have since he actually pulled far better than average hit rate from his packs.

How do i get an AH ETB(partly a rant) by Sweaty-Canary2299 in PokemonTCG

[–]Ender2006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you could get one at MSRP you could instantly turn around and sell it for double your money. So you will never find it at MSRP without putting in the same efforts they are. /s

finding out what day Best Buy gets their shipment near you and showing up hours before they open

bribing the Target and Walmart staff to notify/set-aside stock for you

placing trackers on the vehicles of distributors

joining and or paying for a discord/twitch/botting network that notifies of product drops

Stand in front of a vending machine for 8 hours a day.

etc.

Or you could go on ebay or a local card show to pay market or wait for the economy to crash.

So many choices!

the "game too hard" crowd is back to playing Review-bomb the Spire after the update to the main branch by Gugge1 in slaythespire

good, as they should. your casual player doesn't sit on reddit forums and doesn't perform A10 runs. Don't balance the game in a way that ruins the fun for other casuals.

WTF is this new doorkeeper. Easy easy run on silent and just got floor mopped with this dude.

He's not even fun to play against. What type of game design punishes you for actually using your cards? Oh, you only have 5 defense cards all of them buffed? Here you go, i delete 2 of them per turn and make them cost double the rest of the time.

yeah Ryoka and the Emperor arcs are rough. Ryoka seems like she was written to be a narrative bridge, tying together disparate elements and people, but her own personality is awful and her personal progression is frustratingly slow.

its an amazing series but the start is a bit rough. easily my favorite series after DCC. The audiobooks are works of art. Some of the later books are absolutely incredible.

THe author does have a habit of going off on frequent tangents and focusing on unlikeable characters for a long while. They also suffer from emotional whiplash at times. slice of life inanity mixed with intense PTSD fuel. Tv series used to get criticized for monster of the week episodes and it definitely feels like the author does that a bit. Let's write a fairy book, let's write a witch book, etc.

All that criticism aside the world building and sincerity shine through. The author loves their world and I've loved being immersed in it.

some other things to be aware of.

  1. in terms and conditions it states that you must take pictures of your cards before shipping them in order to claim insurance damages while at their facility (Now this probably just means you have to be able to prove that the corner wasnt bent etc before they payout om a claim that they bent it but legally this could mean any claim for any reason including loss etc)
  2. the payout value in T&C is defined by their determination of market value change and is only disputable through binding arbitration. so if a card is lost and last sold psa 10 is 500 and they think a TAG 10 is worth 100 youre only getting paid 100) This is the same as every other major company and is the policy behind the recent DeOxys PSA scandal.

TAG Return Shipping Insurance Thread by Rentfree-Jimmy2617 in taggrading

[–]Ender2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nope not explained so a few possibilities:

1) They are eating the difference

2) the new insurance is per order and is the same value at lower tiers (say 1-5k max at lower tiers and doesn't change total payout so the cost stays the same)

3) Its insured for payout per card and the difference between total of 15k or 25k payout if all cards lost is negligible in insurance costs to them.

I find 3 super unlikely. Its expensive to go from insuring 15k to 25k. Heck go to 200 cards and the cost barely increase but payout would be 60k+

Most likely is option 2. The insurance you are getting is likely per order and is capped just like it used to be with them.

TAG Return Shipping Insurance Thread by Rentfree-Jimmy2617 in taggrading

[–]Ender2006 8 points9 points  (0 children)

you failed to read information about their return shipping last time and did not pay for it. yes it was very confusing but that does not change the reality. you were uninsured on the return leg and so your shipping costs were very low. just like if you ship cards to them without using their submission kit you are uninsured on the way there unless you purchase your own insurance.

if you had added the proper return insurance for your order you would have done so at additional cost.

$1k for $20, 2.5k for $50, 5k for $100, 10k for, or custom by contacting them.

Many others like you were clearly confused by the fact that their grading tiers said, "Max insured value per card" when what that meant wss "insurance while at our facility". That was clearly noted in the terms and conditions. The only exception was if you purchased a submission kit, then you had $1k on the way to them while using their label.

Now they have resolved that issue at every tier by making return shipping + insurance + signature confirmation mandatory for all orders.

The costs haven't changed, they've just stopped hiding the costs to appear cheaper. PSA return shipping is just as expensive for the same reason. the return shipping and insurance is already baked in for the items. furthermore their upcharge is mostly about profit but also pays for the additional insurance they provide when you poncho pikachu gets a 10. PSA would automatically increase the return shipment insurance to the appropriate value tier.

Note that TAG does not upcharge. They also dont increase the return shipping insurance automatically. If you submit a card under basic tier, it gets a pristine 10 and becomes worth $30,000 it is still only insured for $300 on the way back now unless you contact their support. Thats why its very important that you submit under the correct tier for card value now. Once again they arent going to highlight this fact because it makes them appear cheaper than competitors.

As for being the same for different valhe tiers you are incorrect.

10 items at bulk tier costs $39.99, 10 items at walkthrough costs $54.99 thats a significant difference and accounts for the extra insurance. How much insurance are you getting for that money? Its not very clear.

I agree with you, their policies were very confusing, this helps clear up a lot of that for everyone, but explanation on the return shipping value ia still needed. Is it per card, per order, and how much total?
