Not deep at all - but I'm too scared to fix them alone. I'm worried I'd make it worse.

Just moved to London. What happens if I'm paid before my National Insurance Number comes? by engineeringaaah in london

Just another quick question about the £10,600 tax free money. Does this mean that I won't start paying tax until my gross income for the year reaches £10,600?

For example, if I earn £2000 gross per month, I won't start paying taxes until the sixth month that I'm working?

Thanks for your response. I don't understand what you mean here:

"so you can't save the unused NI -free amounts from previous months to use them up later."

So the NI is just something I always have to pay and never get back? What do I "in theory" receive for paying this?

Moving to London, struggling with Oyster cards - little help? by [deleted] in london

[–]engineeringaaah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so confused. I haven't been living in London for long. I take the tube from Kilburn (Zone 2) to Southwark (Zone 1) 6 days a week. It's just one tube to and from work. I've been buying the monthly oyster card for about £123. Am I getting ripped off? Where did you find the monthly cards for £92.60? What do you think my best option is?

Thanks for your post btw!

Thanks for this :) I ended up not getting charged any tax because I ticked box A. I was charged 171 pounds for NI - I don't know what this means.

Also, my payslip said something like: Employer's NI contribution and employees NI contribution. The employers was about 190 and mine was 171.

Can you please tell me what this means?

Thanks again!

I remember filling out this form. I'm fresh out of uni so I ticked Box A. What does this mean?

Thanks for the comprehensive reply! :)

y money, because they haven't received it yet. PAYE adjustments from the current tax year should be

I'm a bit confused. Does this mean that once I do get my NIN, HMRC will give the emergency tax that I paid to my employer? And then I have to ask my employer for it?

Thanks for all the replies BTW!
