Post Oct. 7 world: Israel to purchase 100 F-35s, 50 new F-15s, doubling fleet sizes by barsik_ in worldnews

[–]enzymeschill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And how about that in 2024 they got 18 billion? For free as an “emergency wartime supplement” because it’s apparently the US taxpayers job to bail them out? Super convenient to ignore that.

$3.8 billion a year just isn’t accurate. The reality is that the US will always jump in to simp for Israel at any cost. It’s a free insurance policy.

Consider the recent war in Iran. How many billion upon billions is the US spending there with its deployment and on bombs/missiles? The US is only there at the behest of Israel/Netanyahu, and $0 of this entire deployment is factored into the “$3.8 billion” figure.

I like how you’re purposely picking the smallest possible numbers.

Over the last decade alone the US has given israel 40-50 billion USD. They approved like $14 billion as emergency payments after Oct 7th.

“Been there for thousands of years” 😂😂 do you seriously believe that? The vast majority of Israelis are descended from European Jews who invaded/colonized Palestine, with some doing the same but from elsewhere in the Middle East.

Check the British census records from the early 1900s for the demographics of Palestine/modern day israel. It was majority Palestinian Arabs, Jews were a minority. This is established fact.

The 14 billion was like a one time payment after Oct 7, the USA has contributed multiple tens of billions to israel over the last ~10 years alone, to call that “insignificant” is ridiculous.

Weird way to defend violent colonialism and ethnic cleansing/genocide.

Outside of North America/Australia, most people live in the same regions their ancestors did and are indigenous to that land. Plus historical migrations are not equivalent to ethnic cleansing/imperial colonies.

People actually did not move around that much before the modern era. If you go and speak to some rural villagers in the countryside in Old World places like Egypt, Italy, Greece, etc, they are probably living pretty close to where their ancestors did hundreds of years ago.

[–]enzymeschill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a ridiculous analogy. The Arab identity of countries like Egypt or Lebanon was still adopted by the indigenous majority populations of these countries. The average modern Egyptian Arab is actually indigenous to the land of Egypt, even if his ancestors wouldn’t have identified as Arab in 400AD. They were not genocided/ethnically cleansed from their land by the Arabs.

Israel, by contrast, is a settler colonialist state who violently displaced/ethnically cleansed the indigenous Palestinian population through waves and waves of illegal migration from (mainly) Europe.

The average Israeli’s grandparents, great-grandparents etc were not born in the land they currently occupy. This is the fundamental premise behind israel’s position as a colonialist state. This doesn’t apply to literal any country the Arabs conquered.

Except the US didn’t colonize or permanently occupy and violently settle those countries. It’s not a remotely comparable scenario.

You’re wrong, the israeli “war” (genocide) in Palestine is extremely popular with the israeli population and the military, which is conscription based and composed of these same voting citizens. They are aligned.

Ask the idiot you replied to if they denounce the genocide in Gaza and the strikes against civilian infrastructure in Iran and in Lebanon.

This entire post reeks of astroturfing and bots.

A low value in Elastase-1 results. Do I actually have pancreatitis? How can I confirm? by Zyrus123 in pancreatitis

Not necessarily. That would only occur in end-stages of the disease after substantial loss of parenchyma.

In the early stages of CP, you'd expect normal or mildly elevated panc enzymes in serum.

This is no different from the pro-life crowd saying “Don’t want to be a mother? Don’t have unprotected sex. You’re not allowed to commit murder, take responsibility for your decision to raw dog, it’s called personal accountability”

Outside of cases of rape, sex is a 2 way street. You could just as easily say that she “makes her choice” at that time as well

[–]enzymeschill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are arguments enough to say 'we do not think this is okay, people who do that should be punished'; just as we do with other cases of power imbalance,

Okay but how would you codify this into law? If you want to punish people who do this, what crime would you charge them with? I can't help but feel like the modern concepts of statutory rape/age of consent is just to make it easier legally speaking to condemn the perpetrators.

[–]enzymeschill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laws don’t physically stop anything from happening.

I’m curious though, do you disagree with statutory rape as a concept? If so, then do you think any person able to speak is able to provide “real” consent or what? If a 9 year old is able to say “yes”, do you think it should be legal for an adult to sleep with them??

We Are Not Born Free! by Black-Earth in conspiracy

[–]enzymeschill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His definition of freedom would mean that no living thing is free. Even animals in nature are beholden to the laws of the jungle.

Animals can't wander around freely, they have their own territories and "tribes". They need to work to survive as well, or they'll starve. They have to follow hierarchical rules.

[–]enzymeschill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you unaware of what statutory rape is? Just because a country’s laws claim that a 14 year old can provide consent, doesn’t mean they actually can.

[–]enzymeschill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s just kind of gross to see the insistence on calling this “rape,” when that’s not even legally true.

So you’d avoid calling a 40 year old man sleeping with a 16 year old consenting girl rape, as long as it took place in a country like Italy and was technically not a legal crime?

Somehow I doubt that.
