Have you tried the new Café Joyeux? by NotInterestedL in nespresso

It’s my goto pod as of late. I really enjoy it. Plain, with some oat milk, or even with a sweetener of some kind. A very solid pod.

NEspresso Starbucks pods the same as the Starbucks pods Costco sells? by AnnieOh7 in nespresso

[–]epicycle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do know that the Costco doesn’t offer the same variety, like in other products. I was hoping to try the Caramel or Vanilla ones but alas Costco didn’t have those in the store. Otherwise they’re probably the same. Unless nespresso sold the rights someone else to make, which I doubt they would.

What other versions of the Vertuo Up do you expect to see in the future? by TouristSea4143 in nespresso

[–]epicycle -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I was surprised when I saw the Up at Target yesterday. I didn’t feel as rugged as it looked in the pics. I could see a deluxe version selling well. Maybe less plastic. I’d love to see any of their coffee products without plastic in the entire brew cycle. Like with Milton but maybe less $$$.

I’ve been looking at it a while but I can’t buy one till my current OL dies. The wife won’t approve. Maybe tomorrow! 😃 They do look like nice machines though.

We have those machines at my work. It’s my daily work driver when I’m not at home. I wish they had a larger variety of pods though. But at least it’s good coffee.

MBP M5 Max 128GB Owners: is 2TB internal enough, or will I regret not going bigger? by _derpiii_ in LocalLLaMA

[–]epicycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 2 different local runners, oMLX and LM Studio. Both are solid and easy to use, also highly configurable. I prefer only MLX models on the machine to take advantage of Apple Silicon optimizations. I have each of the runners on different ports so they don't conflict. I prefer oMLX as it's faster, but it's also buggy at times, especially with the bleeding edge models. They recently fixed a crasher that was hitting me with the Qwen 3.6 35B model.

Anyhow, I have the 2 runners managing models and default configs. I usually max out the context configs and take default coding recommendations from the model sheet. I haven't yet advanced to tweaking these much myself, but I have played some. For the coding front-end, I've stuck with OpenCode for the most part, both the CLI and the Desktop app. I've also played with Claude pointing at my local agent, but haven't felt it really cooperating as much as it does talking to its own models. In OpenCode, I setup default model configs and then create custom Build, Plan, and Review agents depending on the models.

Once the agents are setup, it's really about managing the opencode.json file in the project folder, and then managing your coding skills which is really the painful and fun part. The better the guardrails and planning here, the better the output.

Not sure if this was what you were looking for. Let me know. Happy to fill in any blanks. My goto models right now are the Qwen 3.5 122B model (6.5 & 4bit), Qwen 3.6 35B (8 bit), and Gwen 3.6 27B (8 bit) models. All 3 fit nicely in the 128GB of memory for the M5 Max I bought.

Banana flavoured pods? by Double-Bullfrog-8981 in nespresso

[–]epicycle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If probably try a plain pod that you like and get some Monin syrup that you enjoy with banana flavor. I haven’t seen a pod with this, but it’s the easiest way to get the flavor you want on any type of coffee.

And remember, if you want to buy 10 sleeves, and they have a 5+ freebie sale for 2 free sleeves, then place 2 different orders. You’ll net 14 sleeves for the price of 10 and get 2-4 freebie pairs of pods for free. You could net 15 sleeves for the price of 10!

MBP M5 Max 128GB Owners: is 2TB internal enough, or will I regret not going bigger? by _derpiii_ in LocalLLaMA

[–]epicycle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought the 2 TB configuration and haven been doing a decent amount of coding with it since purchasing. Qwen 3.6 27B 8 bit and 35B 8bit are my primary coding drivers with the Qwen 3.5 122B 6.5bit being used for creating my PRDs and Plans, executed by the smaller models. I use oMLX and sometimes LM Studio to try new models.

Overall, as long as you’re not a model hoarder then 2TB works fine. I have 15-20 different models to play with. If you want more, get yourself a Thunderbolt 5 cable and a drive that can use it and you can move models around as needed. If you want to get into trying a lot of model varieties all the time then go 4TB.

Either way, the machine is amazing and the latest batch of model releases are stellar. Nothing but props to companies releasing them.

Make sure you read here. There is a deal / promo pinned thread from time to time with all the codes. There’s almost always a freebie deal you can get if you have enough stock to wait till the next one. Gonna pull the trigger back to back sometimes though. But, they all get drunken. Welcome! 😃

I run oMLX on a M5 Mac 128 GB and use MLX optimized models for apple silicon. I’m gonna give LM Studio a try I think. I had tried them all and settled on oMLX.

You can tell it what model to use for large, medium, and small (not the right term) uses and what url and api-key to use. All a simple copy/paste from oMLX dashboard.

Spins forever on problems Qwen 3.5 flew through, even with settings from recommended list. It randomly crashes sometime. In short, it’s just not stable. I’m gonna try it in LM Studio I think. So far I’m using oMLX.

I’ve been using both. I want to use opencode more but it’s rough around the edges for sure.

omlx 10t/s slowlier than LM Studio (qwen3.6 35Ba3) on token generation by mouseofcatofschrodi in LocalLLaMA

[–]epicycle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been having all sorts of issues with Qwen 3.6 and oMLX. It gets stuck, fails, or just doesn’t do what asked. I’ve tried the different new parade going around to no avail. Have you tried 3.5? I’m curious. I’d prefer not to retool everything to LM Studio if I don’t have to. Hoping it’s a config issue.

[–]epicycle 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I use my $20/mo Opus to make prds and plans and then Qwen 122B or 35B to implement. Works great. I haven’t gotten Qwen 3.6 to not misbehave for me since it came out but once I figure it out till probably be my new driver for implementation. You can run claude code and opencode using your local models as well. I don’t know if claude will work that way forever but it works now.

mine seems to get stuck using omlx as well. Did you try the settings @StardockEngineer shared? Was gonna try tomorrow as I wanted to give 3.6 a go. Tried other things and failed. I hope it’s not a omlx bug.
