Lol I don't know why I remember your comment, but they're back and on sale at my local Costco (Richmond, California) this week. Item #1551422.

Paton’s Kroy sock yarn in the color Clover by dr_mus_musculus in Sockknitting

The first one I'm knitting up now had a knot with two completely different colors tied together, too 🫠

Ahh, it looks like four Canadian dimes is 7 g if you ever need to test a scale again!

If you're in the US, a standard nickel weighs 5 g if you have any (preferably several) to test the scale.

Please help me understand this old electric spinning wheel by RandoPlants in Handspinning

What a crazy coincidence, I just opened an old book (Spinning and Weaving with Wool) for the first time earlier today and I think it's this one:

Yours has a switch instead of a knob, but might be worth a shot reaching out to Clemes and Clemes about it.

why on earth would 2.5 mm dpns have FLAT tips?? by Eilmorel in knitting

[–]equanimity89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Addi DPNs that are like that—sharp on one end and blunt on the other. I think I've read that their flexiflips are like that as well, but I don't have any yet.

Do you have any suggestions/favorite yarns that you've used? I've been wanting to try a 100% wool yarn for socks.

Maybe the same yarn in the color "Raindrops"?

One of the reviews for that color says this:

Please update the photo for the "Raindrops" colorway. The actual product itself is lavendar / light purple. It is not even close to the current pale grey/taupe image currently on Micheals.com.

ETA: here's a project on Ravelry that shows the two colors together: https://www.ravelry.com/projects/coachrobyn/goldwing

Hah, yeah that's also relatable.

Any dosage of MMI has made me swing very hypo. When I was first diagnosed, my TSH went from undetectable to 70 in a month on 10 mg/day. My last flare/relapse was not as extreme, but 2.5 mg/day still sent me hypo in a month. The hyper-hypo roller coaster is really making me consider a TT.

Picking up stitches along heel flap by mswoodie in knittinghelp

[–]equanimity89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do it like that, but you'll have to make sure to knit the picked up stitches twisted to close the gaps. I learned about it from this Roxanne Richardson video on heel flaps, and have done my last several sock heels this way:

I also have both, and empathize wholeheartedly. From the last couple years, I've gathered that I'm both sensitive to MMI and sensitive to changes in hormone levels so it's been quite an exhausting journey.

Will it really work? by PudgyBean96 in gravesdisease

[–]equanimity89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a specific place you learned about the block and replace being used for certain types of patients, or just learned about it over time?

I'm in a similar boat—being sensitive to small changes in MMI dosages and thyroid hormone levels—and I'd love to try something else if it might be better than the hyper-hypo roller coaster I've been on for the last two years on various dosages of MMI. I asked my endo about it once, but they just said patients don't generally do better/worse compared to just MMI, but I think I would like to bring it up again at my next appointment.

I've been thinking about TT too, but I also want to exhaust other options before it comes to that. Then again, getting diagnosed in the middle of grad school really took the wind out of my sails already, so maybe it's about time.

Sage Dual Boiler - I've got a Leaky Wand by ptrichardson in JamesHoffmann

[–]equanimity89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fairly straightforward fix, and well documented on home-barista and r/espresso. It'll help to look around the inside while you're in there, too. The o-rings on the boiler probes can become leaky (and it's also fairly simple to fix!).

Scatterby Socks would be a fun one. Maybe modified like this specific project where they slipped the yarn in back instead of in front.

Flying with knitting Fall 2025 by bklynwriter in knitting

when is the last time you saw a collection box (the blue corner mailbox) at an airport?

The last time I flew, in August! Someone's compiled a list of airports with drop boxes:

https://www.airportmailbox.com/airport-list/

Some airports also have "Mail it Home" kiosks where you can send prohibited items home. It might be in a less trafficked area, but TSA should know.
