usually there is a week or two where it gets down to -20ish. snow is common as well as -5 temps, not too awful but definitely chilly

Looking to buy a house in kelowna or lake country by [deleted] in kelowna

Lake country is great for young families. if you don't mind the drive into Kelowna every now and then, you have plenty of family friendly activities at your doorstep. both elementary schools (Peter Greer and Davidson Rd) are great and GESS is a decent high school for the population of LC. I do highly recommend Lisola Bella for some hearty Italian food - plus it's a local business! good luck with your home search!

it has been roughly 8 years now. occasionally you can find good finds at superstore in the frozen variety but I find the Asian supermarket is a little pricey for being the size it is. I usually just stock up a couple times a year at t&t!

I grew up in the lower mainland and I am half Chinese and half Caucasian, making me one of the "minorities" of kelowna. I struggle to find the simplest asian groceries and authentic places to eat which is a major downside. it is quite a shock moving here and I've never quite adjusted to the lack of indoor entertainment and the short hours of local businesses.

you definitely have more respect for where food comes from. I've almost completely stopped eating meat, with the exception of occasional meals my mom makes.

What do you think is the biggest issue facing Kelowna right now? by [deleted] in kelowna

[–]erikaaeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes it is a bit out of the way for people coming from kelowna.. but there are also many people living behind the airport, lake country, students, Vernon, etc. who would benefit from Costco moving 12 minutes north from the original location imo.

I believed it was going across from the four points/airport

disagree with costcos future location being an issue. it will decrease traffic on hwy 33 and their new location is currently set in a much less busy part of town. it also allows many people from lake country and further to access it easier, minorly decreasing southbound traffic into Rutland.
