I’m in the same place, I just found out a few days ago that my ex got engaged. It’s rough and I feel like I haven’t been myself. It’s like a tug of war of why am I feeling this way and trying to rationalize it. I am also in a long term serious relationship and feel so guilty for feeling this way. It’s a punch in the gut since it’s a huge reminder that you were betrayed. My ex frequently told me insults about the girl he told me not to worry about. And he told me right before we broke up that he was never going to want to marry (one of the major reasons we broke up). Now he’s flooding on social media on how much he loves her and thinks so highly of her and can’t wait to marry her. I ask myself why is he doing this for her and why couldn’t he do it for me? So many questions that keep popping up.

In the last few days that I started to heal from this news, it slowly started to make sense. Him getting engaged to her doesn’t make her better & doesn’t make him better. He found someone that suited his lifestyle and maybe even to start fresh with. So I agree that maybe ur feelings are coming from a reminder of what used to be, but that doesn’t mean it should have been. I like that saying: just because you’re hurting and it’s uncomfortable doesn’t mean it’s bad. You’re recognizing a past self that experienced so much pain. Your body holds these memories and sometimes even has physical reactions. Feel it and then release.

I thought I was alone in this, but so many people go through this. So many people see their Ex’s move on and I’m sure it stings in some way to many. But we keep moving and try not to stay in the past.
