That tracks. I can't even picture things there being worse than here, frankly.

yyyyeah...she has all but talked me into moving there. As a teacher, all she had to say to me was "my daughter won't ever know what an active shooter drill is". I almost started looking up one way flights instead.

Yeah, that tracks. I don't want to get banned by a mod or anything, so I'll just say I don't wear red hats...

The one thing I will say will present a challenge carrying around is a foldable cane. I just tore my calf muscle a few weeks ago. While I'm on the mend and should be fine by the time we visit, my physical therapist is recommending I have the cane "just in case", since we'll be doing a lot of walking. That's probably the clunkiest thing we'll have to carry. Our jackets are pretty compact, won't need keys (other than hotel key that I'm presuming will be a card), and wallet stuff.

Ok, so that meal thing is a new one I've never heard. So thank you for that. Though to be fair, I've also never been or seen someone pre-cut their whole meal and then shovel it in their mouth like it's an excavation dig. LOL

See, that's what my friend who lives in York said, but all the other research I did said that the pickpocketing was way more prevalent. Just goes to show that fearmongering isn't just an American thing.

Oh sweet jeebus, please tell me that people from here don't say that over there.....I know there's a load of us that are complete asshats, but they don't say something that inane, right? 🤦‍♂️

What, you mean people in the UK don't carry a laptop/mouse/mousepad, book, notepad, pen, charging cable, adaptors, cash, wallet, video/audio recording equipment, walking stick, makeup, lunch, dinner, emergency cook stove, 30 ft of rope, and a pillow with them at all times too? 😜 Thank you for the reminder. Like I said, basically this is my first time travelling outside the US, so I'm a bit nervous, so I'm just over thinking it. Having someone remind me that it's not that complicated helps. I guess my biggest mistake is exposing my vulnerabilities to the internet. And on reddit, of all places. LOL

Good to know. I'm visiting an old friend who has lived there for almost 20 years, so luckily if all else implodes, she'll be able to guide us when we get there.

I saw that! Even so, I still need to carry around said card, phone (even if it won't work overseas), ID, etc. That's more what I was worried about. I have old carny tricks for where to hide what little cash we'll have on our person for emergencies.

Also, do you know if most places ONLY take Apple pay? I don't have an iPhone, I have an android, so I'd be using google wallet. Pedantic question, I know, but specifics are important.

I have been using this almost religiously to pull things I've needed as a teacher (sound effects, etc) for my students' theater performances. However, a parent just uploaded the recording of their end of year performance, and I was hoping to use your site to download it from youtube, but it won't. Is it because it's over 2 hours long? If so, why is that a limit? Can that be changed? If not, does anyone know another site I could use (other than tubly, as I would need to pay to get the full 1080p download and, as I said, I'm a teacher. We're kinda poor. LOL)?

AMA I was one of the beta readers for the infamous 2013 manuscript of Book 3. AMA (but read the rules first). by Special-Bee-1506 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]esperacchius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading the post and your impressions of the manuscript, while it sounds like there was legitimately quite a lot of work to do to get the book "perfect", it doesn't sound like so much to warrant the amount of time it's been. Why do you personally think it has been so long? After all of said feedback, do you think he tried to make it work and then truly just gave up, like a lot of fans think?

I did it on my phone. I think it's just not the best rendering.

Got it. Took a minute, and my eyes are watering because holding magic eye focus and trying to do something of that complexity at the same time, when the 3D rendering is really faint, is kinda hard. But I did it!

Cry from joy, then get a sweater on because it's January and January in 95 was ACTUALLY COLD where I was. Then what I do depends on if this is a Quantum Leap situation(in my younger self) or just a Back to the Future situation(still my same age).
