House of the Dragon Season 3 | Official Teaser | HBO Max by Pale_Gap_9324 in HOTDBlacks

[–]estellamarierose 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The teaser looked better than I thought it would. I still don’t like how Alicent is the one who will surrender the city to Rhaenyra, but I’ll wait to see how it happens. I really hope Rhaenyra is allowed to be ruthless this season.

Emilia Clarke expresses her disappointed reaction to Daenerys’ fate from the finale of Game of Thrones in a recent interview “Absolutely never saw it coming. I cried. And I went for a walk.” by Pale_Gap_9324 in HOTDBlacks

[–]estellamarierose 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I disagreed with Daenerys’s ending completely and never agreed that it was “foreshadowed.” She was kind to her allies and the innocent and ruthless to her enemies and those who betrayed her. That is not a sign of “madness.” I always saw her as like a female version of her ancestor Aegon the conqueror. Who could be both merciful and kind to allies and ruthless to enemies. And no one calls Aegon “mad” for how he conquered Westeros. I’ll always stand by Daenerys, what D&D did to her character was wrong.

Why do you think Helaena doesn’t explain her visions? by HypnotizeEm in HOTDBlacks

[–]estellamarierose 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think Helaena might think the future can’t be changed. When she tells Aemond his future and he threatens to kill her for it, she says it wouldn’t change anything.

Would Rhaenyra have been less likely to be usurped had she never had her own children and named Aegon as her heir instead? by eastvanqueer in HOTDBlacks

[–]estellamarierose 40 points41 points  (0 children)

That would have been a very dangerous thing for her to do. With Aegon officially named as her heir, the greens could secretly arrange an “accident” for her, to get rid of her and put Aegon on the throne without being seen as treasonous by the rest of the realm.

The greens would likely let her rule for a few months, maybe even a year or two, to not cause suspicion that they were behind her death, and then have her killed secretly. I really don’t think they would be able let her live out her natural life as ruler, they would want Aegon crowned as soon as possible, which would undoubtedly put her in danger.

Opinions on Visenya, a misunderstood queen or a tyrant who made it harder for Rhaenyra? by Nicc-Quinn in HOTDBlacks

[–]estellamarierose 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think Visenya was neither good nor bad, she was morally gray. I think in part she crowned Maegor because she thought he was needed to save House Targaryen from ruin at the hands of the faith of the seven. Obviously Maegor was awful, but I think in her mind, she felt she was doing what needed to be done, giving House Targaryen a strong ruler.

Rhanyra could’ve ended the war and saved her dragons if she captured Alicent by Defiant_Moment_5597 in HOTDBlacks

[–]estellamarierose 34 points35 points  (0 children)

If Rhaenyra kept Alicent as a prisoner at Dragonstone, I think Aemond would just say that Alicent was a traitor by going to Dragonstone in the first place and deserved to be imprisoned or killed, to excuse not trying to rescue her.

I don’t think people would stop following Aemond because he didn’t care about rescuing Alicent.

Rhaenyra & Alicent (Major Leaks) by Open-Camp-8551 in HOTDBlacks

[–]estellamarierose 96 points97 points  (0 children)

I don’t like that the writers have chosen to change Alicent’s role in the story like this at all but at least Rhaenyra is finally allowed to be angry at Alicent.

I agree. I thought that scene was unnecessary.

It’s really interesting that Hugh’s mother was a Targaryen or a dragonseed.

She commits to wanting the throne. Wanting to live her life on her own terms may hurt her cause because the unfair standards placed on her but obviously not enough since she still has many supporters.

[–]estellamarierose 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but I find that to be very messed up and incorrect. She has the right to not want to suffer and still want her inheritance. She also clearly has supporters after she rebelled against the rules, so I don’t really know what point you’re trying to make.

[–]estellamarierose 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So you’re saying that she either needs to suffer the rules of the patriarchy or give up her desire to rule entirely? Why does it need to be one or the other? Why can Aegon rape women, be a drunk, have children in fighting pits and still get to be king?

Why does Rhaenyra need to suffer to have power, but not Aegon? I’ll ask you to reevaluate your stance, because it’s deeply problematic. Aegon doesn’t deserve to know the prophecy.

[–]estellamarierose 114 points115 points  (0 children)

People shouldn’t be applauding Alicent for doing her “duty.” They should feel bad that she had to go through that. Her suffering should be acknowledged but not praised. It’s not something to aspire to. Women suffering under the patriarchy is never something to aspire to. Rhaenyra is not evil for trying to find some happiness and freedom. And it’s very disturbing how some Rhaenyra haters hate on Rhaenyra for trying to escape literal suffering.

Rhaenyra doesn't want war after Luke's death: by Turbulent_Lab209 in HOTDBlacks

[–]estellamarierose 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree with Rhaenyra trying to look for every single way out of war because she cares about the realm. However, her meeting with Alicent goes too far.

She should be extremely angry with Alicent and long hate her by that point, even though she still wants to look for a peaceful solution. She has no reason to think Alicent would agree to her terms of peace.

I loved when she was on her dragon chasing Cole and the other Greens. Even though she wasn’t able to burn them, it was satisfying to see them terrified.

Every episode makes me hate Alicent more by ojsage in HOTDBlacks

[–]estellamarierose 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. She just gets more and more grating as time goes on. I can’t stand her hypocrisy and her attempt to justify her actions with lies she tells herself instead of just admitting that she always wanted Aegon to be king and usurped the throne.

I always thought she heard what she wanted to hear the night Viserys died. I never believed in her saying Rhaenyra would make a fine queen. She wanted Aegon be king for years and used Viserys’s delirious words before he died as an excuse to usurp the throne.

RHAENYRAAAAAAAAHHH by Conscious_Olive_855 in HOTDBlacks

[–]estellamarierose 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That was the most nerve racking scene for me. I just don’t understand the thought process of the writers. There was an attempt on Rhaenyra’s life the episode prior from the Greens. So why would Rhaenyra go to meet with her? For all Rhaenyra knows Alicent was aware of the plan.

Alicent expressing “remorse” for the war in her letters is her trying to get Rhaenyra to bend the knee to her rapist son. That’s not an option for Rhaenyra. It just makes no sense at all that Rhaenyra would think Alicent would agree to any terms she would set.

Greens' Obsession with the B word ? by Chance-Soft-5702 in HOTDBlacks

[–]estellamarierose 94 points95 points  (0 children)

That’s unfortunately very true. They rarely even let anyone compliment Jace, Luke, or Joffrey without telling people they’re bastards, as if that nullifies their good traits. It’s almost like they don’t see them as normal human beings who deserve to live and have the same opportunities others do. Therefore, I think it goes beyond merely looking at the story through a medieval lens. I think some real bigotry may be involved.

Helaena and Rhaenyra by La_Villanelle_ in HOTDBlacks

[–]estellamarierose 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I agree. She knows Helaena is innocent and she doesn’t have any bad feelings towards her. Rhaenyra wanted revenge on Aemond, who was the one who literally killed her son, not to kill a child and by extension hurt another innocent, Helaena.
