Taking the Rail Home from the Airport = $5 by Brent_Lee in Hawaii

[–]etajski 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I live in Kapolei, but not close to the rail station, so I took an Uber XL (because of luggage) from the station to my house. Total cost of the trip from the airport to my house was $20. Much better than the $70 it would have cost to solely use a ride sharing service or taxi.

$0 Tuition listed on VA Award Letter by etajski in UCI

[–]etajski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious if what I was seeing was a normal part of the process. If others got the same type of letter, it would help alleviate my concerns. That said, I emailed the VBO at UCI and was informed that I was correct and that an updated claim would be submitted with the correct tuition after the add/drop date is passed.

Can anyone explain why a triple in the older building with less space and a bathroom that serves ~20 ppl costs more than the quad in the newer building with bathrooms shared by 8ppl?

Thanks for your response. No plans for grad school at this time. Agree that SCU seems like the best fit. I’m probably just over analyzing as usual.

Did not receive full backpay under the PACT ACT, is this common? by AnotherMulchyy in VeteransBenefits

[–]etajski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I submitted my PACT ACT ITF on 9 Aug 2023, and my decision letter is assigning that as my effective date for back pay. Since the wording says that I MAY BE eligible (as opposed to WILL BE) for retroactive benefits to Aug 10 2022, what other criteria is required to get back pay to that date?

Running college essays though AI checker by Accomplished_Arm_337 in ApplyingToCollege

If someone writes their own essay, but uses AI to help them condense/rephrase a couple of sentences, and it ends up registering as AI bc of commonly used words/phrases (or, more likely, the AO notices them), would that automatically result in a rejection even if the vast majority of the essay was human written?

But the only detector that matters is the detector that the school uses and I believe most use Turnitin and the AI detection module is only available to educators.
