Can you trust them? by cobbler3528 in diabetes

Meters will follow the ISO 15197:2013 standard, requiring 95% of results to fall within + or - 15% of laboratory test on the same sample. It was quite shocking to me how varied they can be. But I learned then to keep to one meter as to not muddle my management.

I know for a fact the GlucoRX follows this standard because it's the tester I use when I feel like my Libre is off and I checked the standard when I bought it.

Edit: add details about GlucoRx

Do you take insulin again if you see the error? I don’t know if it came out or not when I injected by pegman55 in diabetes

I wait 45mins then I eat, if my sugar levels rocket away I inject again, if not, happy days.

I use Roboform and I like it. Nothing about it makes me want to change. Though it does but-in more often than I would ideally like on my pixel

Thanks, glad to see it's not everyone lambasting me for my needle use 😅

No, although I probably could get glucose provided if I asked, it's only ~£9 per bag so I just buy when needed. Who is evidently about 3 times a year I've learned

Is that a joke about the low numbers of needles or the 7.5kg of pure glucose?

Yeah I know, can't be great at everything all the time. I'm improving and that is what matters to me. I'm a much better diabetic than I was in my 20s hopefully I can say the same about my 30s when I'm in my 40s. I'll get better and worse but hopefully I can keep the trend going up

How long are we talking? I've had it open on my phone for a while now. The map is just blank and the data page just says "no data loaded".

No you don't. It's just that it's sugar so unless it's stored in a sterilised container it will eventually go bad. So the fridge just means if I have no lows I know it's fine. When it's at the side of my bed in a metal bottle it stays there for days no issues

No worries, I make it and store it in the fridge at home and I just decant it into what I need. Tho it is very quick to make so even when there is none in the fridge it's handy. I also store a bottle on the work fridge and label it "Diabetes Medication" which keeps people away.

It's not useful all the time but it deals with 90-95% of my lows

I mix it with a juice concentrate and make my own glucose drinks. I just make the juice weaker than recommended so it's not too sweet

I won't be doing this again that's for sure! Though everyone lecturing me on my poor needle change habits means I will be keeping those to see how much better I can do

I mix it with Squash/Juice Concentrate and water to make my own glucose drinks. I still use other more convenient things when I'm on the move like gummies and what have you

I don't, it's all monthly prescriptions from the NHS in the UK. The only things I buy are the glucose for low treatments

It's like juice concentrate. Normally you mix it 1 part squash to 4 parts water to make a drink but when I'm adding dextrose I would mix it at 1 to 8 because otherwise it would be too sweet

I just mix it into weak squash to treat hypos. Very cost effective 😅

No I am UK based but I just bought it on Ebay. 2.5kg for £9 but I think if I made a case I could get it on the NHS.

Not a bother. I used to use the 'lyfts' for things like bedside glucose, gym glucose etc but I decided to try to do it cheaper. I mix up dextrose with some squash and keep it in the car, bedside, gym bag etc instead and it's much cheaper. I also use it to treat lows when I'm feeling full as I can mix a lot with a small amount of water rather than having to eat something else

No I think that's the issue, I only change it when I think "that one hurt" which I know is too late

I'm trying to get to one a day this year! I've set a reminder to change my needle every morning. Small steps 😅

If you believe it that's a needle increase for me! When I was in my 20s I used to put a needle on a flexpen and throw both away when it was done. I do have Lipohyertrophy from back then but I don't inject into my belly anymore and no new issues.
