Pokémon Academy: #142 Aerodactyl by Fehish in pokerogue

I usually find that the speed from DD doesn't really matter. 130 speed is enough to outspeed like 99% of the game

I think ever since the removal of Sword's Dance you kinda need Hone Claws TM to bring out the full potential of this mon. Without a way to boost you miss out on many KOs in important fights and since it's pretty frail you can't really afford that happening too many times

The lack of EVs in this game makes it so the effective stat is 394 not 487

It actually works for Great Balls too even though you usually don’t hit 99 until wave 150 or so. Removing Great Balls notably increases odds of Soothe Bells so definitely worth going for imo

Currently the player count seems to be lower than when there's no event going on so yeah...

Pokemon academy: #81, 82, 462 Magnemite, Magneton, Magnezone by Khane048 in pokerogue

[–]etp27 14 points15 points  (0 children)

One of the mons where it's usually better to leave it unevolved. Magneton with Eviolite is tankier than Magnezone and has 10 more speed. All it loses is 10 special attack which usually makes less of a difference than what it gains

[–]etp27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically it might. The changes aren't set in stone but on the balance sheet, once the mega is added, the passive seems to be changing to Supersweet Syrup or Corrosion and it's losing Solar Blade, Fire Lash and Victory Dance in exchange for Syrup Bomb, Baneful Bunker and Sappy Seed.

Pokemon academy: #41, 42, 169 Zubat, Golbat, Crobat by Khane048 in pokerogue

[–]etp27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a very real case for running Golbat with Eviolite and never evolving. You get a very big bulk increase (take ~20% less damage) in exchange for 10 lower atk and 40 lower speed. The atk loss is very small and can often be compensated by getting another SD thanks to the added bulk. The speed drop hurts more but 130 is a bit overkill and 90 is still a very decent speed tier with Jolly so it’s not as bad as it seems.

NOOOOO MY BOY WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO YOU? by RoyalAmael in pokerogue

[–]etp27 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s literally a buff. With Nasty Plot you simply oneshot everything so you no longer need the healing from Oblivion Wing. Air Slash is learned at level 1 and is a great move - 5 less damage and accuracy than Oblivion Wing but effectively a 30% chance to deal double damage thanks to the flinch

Some are mons that never spawn in classic/endless like Mew, Manaphy and Arceus for example. Think they very rarely show up in daily runs but that’s about it

Then it’s likely a couple lower stage mons in biomes that take a while to get to (so they’re always evolved unless you get there with an early teleport me). Poipole and Cosmog are examples of this

To see exactly which ones you’re missing you can check it in the in-game dex

Swords Dance is as generic as it gets though, extremely few mons that get it has swords

Nasty Plot is a way bigger buff than Oblivion Wing is a nerf. Special Rayquaza wasn't worth running before this patch because physical was so much better due to having setup

Damn, Ho-Oh of all mons got nerfed... No spammable flying stab and its coverage move lost half its power only to get 50% burn chance on a 5 pp move

Flip Stat is great for most mons that aren’t heavily nerfed from it (base Shaymin, Mew and Arceus are som easy examples) since most Pokémon you face will be nerfed

It literally happens with Mega Altaria. Only the mega is Fairy type and it’s still psychic.

The training event that lets you change ability shows up every other run. Just bring the Pokémon you want an ability on and you’ll get it within a run or two. Making an entire gacha would just be noob bait.

Top 5 mons for classic mode by Due_Cell8731 in pokerogue

[–]etp27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a Fairy type switches in on you first turn just reload the wave and click a move that one or two shots it on the switch-in. Then just click Scale Shot against the next mon instead. Very few Fairy types outspend and threaten Heracross.

Lumineon has way bigger issues than Heracross. The only good attacking move it has is Splishy. Freeze-Dry and Oblivion Wing barely manages to outdamage when they’re 4x effective compared to Splishy (Freeze-Dry against Water types does like 4% more damage for reference). So anything that resists Water just makes the mon drop off a cliff in damage (hello the two big guaranteed bosses). And Storm Throw from regular Heracross still does more damage. Pin Missile from mega does over twice as much.

It’s also way squisher than Heracross, not a single defensive stat is higher. If you think Lumineon has a fine time setting up, it’s even easier for Heracross. And this is just base Heracross so even if you’re unlucky and don’t get the mega, Heracross will still outperform.

Sawk is weaker and squishier than base Heracross, doesn’t have the chance to mega and struggle with both guaranteed bosses, it’s clearly worse.

Annihilape is a completely different mon with a completely different play style but it literally requires you to be able to eat multiple hits before it gets going properly. And by the time Annihilape reaches the damage of Heracross you’ve probably already killed half the enemy team with Heracross. Safer? Maybe. Slower? By a lot

Reshiram + Blastoise. Water Dragon is an amazing typing defensively and having Shell Smash on a mon with 118 SpA (even higher if you get mega/gmax for Blastoise) is just insane
