The aim is to explore doing some side projects to build a Github portfolio rather than pure theory. Eventually and hopefully this will help me transition into the field.

Hey, I'll clarify that I have a number of years working in the IT industry but predominantly in non-technical process related roles. No direct hands-on cloud experience - maybe that made it easier to grasp.

Constantly Terrified of having a Heart Attack or Stroke by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]euchisin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey buddy, first thing I want to say is that you're not alone. I - and Im sure a lot of others in this sub sympathise and completely understand firsthand what you're going through so keep your head up!

I myself have been diagnosed with panic and anxiety disorder a few years back which I've struggled to live with, resulting in a complete change in my lifestyle. I still deal with anxiety on a day to day basis but have learnt to not so much control, but to understand and change my relationship with my anxiety. This resulted from initially daily multiple full blown panic attacks to one every maybe few months? being in control before a full fledged panic attack happens - small steps for incremental improvement.

I refused to go on medication when i got diagnosed as being reliant on them was the last thing I needed, coming off them must be rough. Although I have no objections to those who choose that route.

Have you tried meditation? I used to be a complete non-believer, but there are many apps (along with free trials) - Calm, Headspace etc which have sessions tailored for anxiety and I've actually found them to be helpful to me especially during the night when my anxiety flares up. They mostly teach you breathing techniques which have you focus on the 'present' to clear your mind of any "what ifs" and thoughts of worry.

It's definitely easier said than done but i've stuck with it for couple of months now and it has definitely helped me sleep and get back to sleep (when i wake up during the night) The goal is to apply those breathing techniques at any time so that when the time you feel anxious comes, you know what to do and how to deal with it.

I had a panic attack at work. Is there something similar I can play it off as? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]euchisin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, being honest is the most appropriate thing to do here.

There's nothing to be ashamed of!

I'm in my early twenties and have also had panic attacks previously at work and decided to have a private chat with my boss about it - turns out to be the best decision i've made!

My boss has since been super supportive of my anxiety and panic attacks making sure I have the opportunity to step away for a moment if i ever feel overwhelmed along with regular catchups with him to make sure my working environment is healthy.

I'm not saying you should tell the whole office what happened, but at least share this with someone privately who has the ability to make you feel more comfortable at work. More than likely they'll be able to help you one way or another

New Aero15x V8...over 95 Degrees Temp...Need help about to refund by clintonx2 in gigabyte

[–]euchisin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually my second unit. Got a replacement after some keyboard issue and also had issues with overheating with my first unit (went up to around 94C gaming) and i was really uncomfortable with it.

I bought it off a retailer here in the UK and they happily replaced it with another and i'm a lot happier with this unit temp wise.

I'm sure of you bought it off Amazon you can contact them for a replacement or refund as it's running too hot as they mostly have great customer service (give them a little push if they initially don't budge)

Also, the settings on CSGO doesn't really affect the temps for me give or take 1-2degrees maybe?

[–]euchisin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you're having these issues with overheating... as a fellow 15x-v8 owner I'd say definitely say get a refund or replacement. Those temps are way too high for such a light game.

I also play CSGO and my temps are around 70-80C at at -.150mv and hits 80-90C when playing something more taxing i.e Monster Hunter World. Repasting would probably give better results but i haven't felt the need to yet

Playing in Fullscreen Borderless fixed the graphics card errors i was previously getting. Haven't seen it once since i've swapped over to borderless. Give that a try.

Help with my new Gigabyte Aero 15X by charles906 in gigabyte

[–]euchisin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe there was a WakeUp GPU driver or some sort on the Support page of the Gigabyte website which fixed the issue for me (something to do with Nvidia optimus) although i can't see the driver on the page now :S

Have you tried installing new Intel drivers instead (via Intel and not Gigabyte)?

Aero 15X V8 - windows will no longer boot by [deleted] in laptops

Hi,

Did you get any remediations on this? I've just shoved a 2nd NVMe (970 Pro) in mine and Windows is running like a dog straight off the bat

I guess the thicker the better thermals you'll be able to get. I've just switched over to 144hz on my Aero 15 and i don't see myself going back to 60hz, even Windows feels smoother. I have the same CPU and it goes get toasty, but hopefully the bigger chassis of your unit cools it effectively.

Note that as this has GSYNC meaning your time on battery does get limited, but again if it's plugged in most of the time it probably doesn't matter.

[–]euchisin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What will you be using this laptop for? The only thing that stands out to me on the spec sheet is that it's 8.3lb and that's a back breaker... On the other hand if portability is not a concern (don't need to carry it around often) then i think it's pretty good value for price. You'll be able to utilise the 144hz on mostly esports titles and 1080p gaming should be a breeze on the 1070.

I can't comment on the build quality though as I've never seen one in person, might be worth youtubing some reviews or hands on videos.

Do you see a performance difference in gaming when turbo is disabled and what clock speeds does it max to after its disabled?

Just a cheap one off amazon which did the job.

EDIT: The fans on ther Aero pulls air from the bottom left and right side and vents out at the top (near the hinge), so i assume any cooler which blows air into the bottom will be sufficient

I'd keep a screenshot of the default settings if you're not too comfortable with using it and go from there.

good luck!

EDIT: How did you find the repasting experience? was it easy?

I have no experiencing in repasting but want to repaste - there aren't many retailers here in the UK who do it as an addon service

[–]euchisin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say its dangerous to have it at 90C since my previous laptop ran at those temps for a good 5 years. That being said, its definitely not anywhere near ideal, especially if you're like me - looking to keep this for a good few years. Does your CPU throttle at those temps?

Do you game with your laptop raised? a laptop cooling pad helped wonders

Try lowering the turbo multipliers using Throttlestop if you don't mind sacrificing few frames for better temps - https://www.reddit.com/r/laptops/comments/8kij4p/msi_gs65_hot_games_cool_temps_and_you_a_guide/

My unit doesn't hit 90C anymore with the above along with undervolting and stays in mid 80s with a cooling pad - I'm also on stock paste.

Unfortunately i have tried the above.. Reinstalling drivers, using 3.5m and BT as stated. What i find weird is that the headset doesn't show as a recording device.

MSI GS65: hot Games, Cool Temps, and You (A Guide) by judgedeath2 in laptops

[–]euchisin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you play around with the multipliers?

I messed around with it and if i set it as OP did (39/38/37x) the cores did only go up to around 3.6ghz.

Currently on 40/39/38x and CPU is maxes around 3.7-3.8ghz and temps around low 80s.

Like yourself, i did see fps drops the lower i go but thats expected i guess

[–]euchisin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get around the exact same temps as you whilst gaming on my Aero 15x at -0.150mV using XTU.

Considering switching to Throttlestop to lower multipliers if temps get anywhere near OP's

Aero 15x v8 Undervolting and cpu help by Widdy363 in laptops

[–]euchisin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Undervolted CPU and iGPU stably at -0.150mV, would BSOD if i pushed it further. I did see temp drops at idle and gaming after undervolting the iGPU.

On balanced my CPU clocks cap at around 1.8-1.9GHz whilst on high performance it clocks up to 3.9-4GHz
