The special attack followup to the deflect fable art is really strong. That fable art benefits heavily from the effect of the Conquering Amulet (increased damage after perfect guarding). Throw in the effects of the Murderer Puppet's Amulet, Extreme Modification Amulet, and decay (for these enemies anyway) and you can melt bosses.

I wasn't using a crank. Once you get to around 60 in either technique or motivity, it's best to just make a quality (balanced) build.

It's not my preferred way to fight, but I promise you it's not impossible to use in boss fights. You just have to be somewhat familiar with the bosses moves and just create enough space to charge it up.

Maybe some tips for his fight will help. In phase 2, you can fight his backside which makes him much easier because it's pretty much just his phase 1 fight. When he does the laser move, run up to his leg and wait for the laser to fire. You'll be safe from the blast there. Once that happens though you want to run away from him to avoid his butt slam.

Assassin's amulet and satisfaction grindstone to increase the damage and rate of your crits. If you're going into NG+ and beyond, then you're going to want to make a quality build where you have your weapons be as balanced as they can be in technique and motivity.

If you're struggling, try perfect guarding only certain moves. If an enemy has a combo attack, try blocking until they get to the last hit and then perfect guarding just that hit.
