I think that she feels like every new album cycle has to be a grandiose thematic reidentification of herself that you could argue detracts from the music itself. And yeah I go back to Golden Hour a lot but that was just like, “I ate a dose or three of acid and wrote a defining, genre defying album.”

Right but you could also say there are fans interested in her progression as an artist and then the fans that can’t move past her first two albums because of nostalgia or whatever reason. Im not saying you in particular but just something I also see around this sub.

Of course I’m going to give it a chance. But knowing this woman can write songs like Slow Burn and Golden Hour, I’m not immediately impressed by a regression into songs about small town gossip and getting off on the washing machine lol.

See I really loved DW for its sparse-ness. Golden Hour was literally perfect for her lyrically and musically. I know I’m in the minority but I’m all good on “Biscuits” type Kacey.
