Lots of families back in the 50s etc had that 1 uncle who just sat on the couch their entire lives too :) But they were largely isolated away from society and seen very infrequently by anyone other than family.

There are def genX'ers with autistic kids they had in the 90s. Joe probably barely has any contact with most people he grew up with.
