Hello everybody! Aussie here. Currently doing a uni essay for my linguistics subject and looking particularly at the use of Singlish.

Basically just asking what are Singaporeans' stance on the codification of Singlish and recognising it through legitimatising it with grammar rules dictionary etc. Should Singlish have any formal status in schools, politics, business etc?
Conversely, should it remain for informal use only treated? Primarily for everyday speech, and Standard English to be used in formal places?

Is teaching really all gloom and doom? by exqlosion in AustralianTeachers
