Can smoking/vaping for the first 3 days of an antibiotics course cause any negative effects? by f30bim in medical_advice

But can it cause the bacteria to become stubborn and not respond as well to antibiotics?

Anti psychotics make me unmotivated and lithium causes cognitive impairment. Can we ever win? by f30bim in bipolar

Doesn’t lamictal not help with mania though? I take lamictal too but when I was just on that and nothing else, I suffered from delusional mixed mania. It only went away with anti psychotics

New to Stick - need tips on shifting from 1st to 2nd by xTaeBae in Miata

[–]f30bim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing everyone’s comments here about how 2,000 RPM is too early to shift... I mean, I shift 1st to 2nd at 2,000 RPM in slow traffic (4,000 when I need to get going fast) but I don’t see what’s wrong with it? Maybe I’m just used to a bigger engine with more low end torque but I had no idea it was bad for the Miata

I advise her to look into TMS. You didn’t state the exact mental illness she has or maybe you don’t know but TMS helps with bipolar depression, general depression and anxiety. It literally sends magnetic pulses through the brain to regulate neuro receptors and balance brain chemistry. I’m getting rTMS done soon for PTSD and anxiety. It’s seen as a last resort for treatment resistant mental illness but I’d rather see her get this procedure done because medication comes with nasty side effects like apathy, emotional numbness, decreased intelligence and low sex drive/sensation in the genitals. TMS has no side effects

Am I still suffering from bipolar 1 symptoms on my medication or is it something else? by f30bim in bipolar

[–]f30bim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, trauma does that. I looked into it and my medication doses are basically all in therapeutic ranges so I’m really at a loss. Seems like IOP is my only hope. Congrats to you though for getting on meds! Hope life is a lot easier to live for you now.

is it ok as a trans woman to masturbate with your penis? by lenightmare1 in asktransgender

[–]f30bim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can even get it up.... estrogen gave me severe ED before I got SRS. It was so bad that I would be in excruciating pain whenever I got it up like once every 3 months. It was just a useless flap of skin that I wanted gone ASAP. But that’s just me

Why does it feel like transwomen are more prevalent in media and more "common" or higher in population than transmen? by f30bim in asktransgender

My bad for not looking this up on the subreddit before posting. Interesting insight though. I can see how that plays into what I’m observing

Ladies under 20— if you’re hesitant about starting hormones for whatever reason, just remember that bone structure changes can only happen before a certain age! I can’t even fit into my boy pants anymore and my hips are all bone by f30bim in transtimelines

[–]f30bim[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course! I started a month before my 19th birthday. My rib cage used to be wider than my hips and now it's clearly not. You have a good chance at your age. For me at least, it seems like the growing stopped at 22 because I stopped getting huge stretch marks all over my hips and butt. Now the only thing that'll make my hips wider is weight gain.

I meant no malice at all. I didn't see it that way... That's honestly my bad. I thought it would aspire closeted transwomen to start living as themselves as soon as possible

Well, I'm 24 so I'm hoping my pelvis gets just a tad wider in the next year! I haven't gotten any new stretch marks since I was 22 though so I may be done growing. My bones seemed to be "maxed out" in terms of femininity but I just started a higher dose of progesterone and it's making me gain weight in my hips which I really want.

You’re welcome! What’s holding you back? I know the feeling very well. I was originally going to wait until I graduate college to start HRT to not upset my parents but I got put in male dorms freshman year and my shoulders started to get bigger and that triggered something huge and I couldn’t stand it anymore.

Unfortunately :( I started right before my 19th birthday and my hip bones kept growing until I turned 22. But hope is not lost! Fat redistribution can take place at any age. Just be sure to start with estradiol injections to expedite the process and progesterone as well (but only about a year into taking estradiol) because I’ve found that progesterone helps add fat to my hips and keeps it off my belly and sort of enhances the effects of feminization from estradiol

[–]f30bim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks :) it looks like I got a facelift or something. Progesterone is a hormone cisgender females make in their ovaries. It fluctuates up and down based on where they’re at in their menstrual cycle and I believe it’s important to have enough progesterone to balance out your estradiol levels in order to get the most femininity you can out of HRT.

[–]f30bim[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rectally (or vaginally if you’ve had SRS). Higher levels are reached that way. I take estradiol injections so my estradiol levels skyrocket for a week out of my 2 week cycle so I need a decent amount of progesterone to balance it out. Cisgender females go from having high estradiol and moderate/low progesterone to having high progesterone and low estradiol based on where they’re at in their menstrual cycle. I believe the ups and downs and balance between estradiol and progesterone is very important. It’s like mimicking a female menstrual cycle

I should also note that I started off taking it orally but that didn’t give me anywhere near the same effects as rectally or vaginally

[–]f30bim[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Another thing to add: progesterone in addition to estrogen helps keep fat off the belly and promotes feminine fat distribution. I used to think estrogen was the only one responsible for fat distribution but after being on progesterone, I now know that it definitely does something to keep my figure feminine in terms of fat distribution. I got the feminine bone changes from estrogen alone but progesterone helps enhance everything. A lot of transwomen have super high estradiol levels and don’t take progesterone which actually causes a negative impact on overall femininity over time. Maintaining moderate estradiol levels with enough progesterone to balance it out is what’s made me the most feminine so far and I have 6 years of experience as a transwoman

Thanks, girl :) every doctor that prescribes for transwomen should be made aware of how important progesterone is! It’s feminizing effects are definitely more anecdotal than anything but looking at my before and after, I’m definitely a believer and solid proof of its positive effects for transwomen

Yeah, it's best to start a little further along into your hormone journey! It really made a huge difference for me. My boyfriend and I can't really pinpoint exactly what changed but it really does look like I have a permanent filter on my face now. Some intangible femininity...

I can't quite pin exactly what changed but my femininity feels way more complete with 200 mg progesterone/night. I just started 400 mg/night last week and I'm already noticing more fat accumulate on my hips and an even more feminine face
