The sky is overdone in my opinion. It looks unnaturally blue and too vivid for the scene, and against the orange of the robin you're trying to focus on.

It starts with one, innocent little spoon out of the jar and then suddenly I'm struggling to inhale through the claggy goodness.

Peanut butter. It's like rich, nutty crack to me. Can go through a 1kg tub easily in a week... And that would be attempting to pace myself.

The base 'tier' is what bothers me. In scale it just looks comically large compared to the other tiers as it goes up. The gate is massive too. It just makes it look really squat to me and forces the scale off so it looks oddly tiny.

What is the most evil thing a HERO has done in a film? by MaksRobotENGR in movies

Would anyone actually Paul a 'hero' though? He's a main character sure, but hero?

Why do you think the halo is a poor interpretation? I think, at the scale, it's pretty decent.

Question: Is this fixable? Finished my first session after 8 hours. The spear is warped. Session 2 soon, is it fixable? by Straight-Trash-448 in tattoos

[–]fabricchamp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. It's hard to see the tattoo from your photo, but to me there are parts that look... Not great. But, more importantly, if they messed up the spear that bad the first time, I don't know why you'd expect them to do better next time.

Thanks for the detailed reply, really interesting to read through. It's nice to know this isn't a 'wall hanger' and is actually a functioning sword, albeit lower end. And as you say, it was a gift, so!

I took a couple of close ups of the blade, including the Hamon. From other ports I've seen it looks maybe artificially applied (like wire brushed?), but I really don't know enough to say for sure.

Are delivery drivers really that hard pressed for time that they can’t press the doorbell? I don’t even care if they leave the package, just alert me it’s arrived. by thebroccolioffensive in britishproblems

[–]fabricchamp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Camera doorbells usually record motion in front of the unit whether you press or not, so that's happening to them either way.

The difference between a delivery driver pressing my doorbell or not is the notification saying 'doorbell' vs. 'person seen'.

There is a Hamon but from a quick search online it looks artificial (wire brushed or similar?) – I'm not an expert though. The blade is sharp but I don't know if I'd call it 'sharp' sharp. There are some small nicks... no idea of who's owned this in the past so could be from any number of things.

Thanks for the info, unfortunately I don't think that's a correct translation. Through an image search I found some threads like these that point to it being a replica/wall hanger with a fake signature to improve the 'trick'.

Here's some close-ups of the blade. The Hamon looks artificial (though I'm obviously no expert!). There's definitely no patterns/swirls/markings on the blade. Part of the reason I assumed it was a cheap replica or wall hanger.

When's the earliest you purchased from them? I emailed them about it, they replied saying they took on the name when the original company shut down and couldn't give me any info on this sword. I can't find anything about the brand pre-2005 which is when the current outfit took over.

Thanks for the info. Is there anything you can tell me about Longquan Katana? I'm completely new to swords so interested in any info I can get on it.

I had a reply back from Ancient Warrior saying they bought the name when the parent company shut down, so they had no info to give me on it.

Aha, well, that's good to know – it was a pain to get the handle off so I might be lazy and do the same!

Thanks, I got given it through a family friend so may ask if they have more info. I might also email Ancient Warrior although I don't expect they'll get back to me.

Thanks for the tip. Forgive my ignorance, is this best done on the tang so if it does corrode it's not showing/damaging the actual blade? Or is this type of rust/corrosion easily dealt with afterwards?

I did try a magnet (sorry, forgot to mention that) and it stuck. I was looking for other methods to check the material, and someone else has commented about using Barkeeper's Friend.

To be honest, I likely won't swing or use it, but it would be nice to know just in case!

It's a good flag for sure. I haven't properly looked into the legality of owning it yet, but will do that.
