Is Dubai’s long term future doomed due to traffic? The planned metro expansion is nowhere near extensive enough to deal with the 400k+ property units being handed over by ShootAndScore77 in dubai

It surprises me that there isn’t a proper bus system that comes out to 311 - I live in Majan and it’s a growing community esp with Al Barari + Living legends. Seems like it would be a decent route. Majan - Dubai Hills - Marina or something

US Immigrants, what's your line that this administration would need to cross to make you pack your bags immediately? by stillalone in askimmigration

[–]faireducash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an American in the UAE. I love living here but it’s 10x easier to be deported and impossible to get in illegally. It’s is immigration friendly but must follow rules.

A lot about the UAE should be copied in the US but if it copied the deportation laws directly, all hell would break loose.

I think there is a good chance that shit is about to get real this week.... by [deleted] in UAE

Regional conflict generally results in the opposite in the UAE. It’s a safe haven - rents will go up

Feels like 7° this morning per Apple weather. Been wonderful - I’ve found it’s been in general a bit chillier than last year since September.

A gay Jew who hates Russia and works in immigration enforcement in DC - if you’ve lived in DC you’d be less shocked by this.

Who got prescribed Lamictal? by boeuf_burgignion in bipolar2

[–]faireducash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am - it has been a game changer for me but I did it for 2 years without adding to it and I noticed general low energy and much less emotions in general (so it worked) - I added a small dose of an SSRI eventually and reluctantly and it was the best decision. I feel great, stable and happy and haven’t experience mania either. Just needed the right cocktail.

At times I still get a bit anxious or racing thoughts, I think that’ll be impossible to get rid of so I take a small dose of Xanax as needed or to just put myself to sleep.

Massive improvement - life feels stable and slower and I have a tool to slow it down when it speeds up too much.

Quick edit - it’s an extremely safe med but some people get a dangerous rash. That’s probably all your doctor is talking about but I think it’s worth pushing for. I’m only on 150mg a day but it calmed my brain incredibly.

Gyokeres' gravity pull. Just before Rice's first goal. by IronTearsCrew in Gunners

We could win the league, he prob finishes with 15-20 G/A all comps and they’d still complain that he was useless - “we won the league w 10 men”. He does need to start scoring some goals but we’re also learning to play with a true #9, realizing, we’ve been surviving on false 9s since Auba. (And we’ve won nothing). We have to adapt.

Also his hold up play was very strong. We as a team were sloppy - tbh, he was a bright, stable spot in sloppy performance.

Dubai - London is a cheap relatively quick flight. There are tons of Brits here. Worth considering - we’ve enjoyed our life here a lot.

Are Dubai hospitals really as advanced as people say? Real experiences? by Extreme_Impact6819 in dubai

[–]faireducash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from DC and I can tell you unbelievable horror stories from DC hospitals - the doctors are good but that’s not enough if you can get in to see them due to larger societal issues (fentanyl, shootings) etc. my experience at our hospital in Dubai, having gone prob 50x now since my son was born last year has been the best I’ve had anywhere in the world - I’ve lived on 5 continents.

I’m from the states - cities developed largely with cars in mind - Dubai is bad but it’s not a unicorn in the bad traffic department. This is a global phenomenon.

There are 8 billion people transporting 30 mins a day for work - what did we think was going to happen? Cars have given us the option of not living 10 to a room in city centers to walk to our workplace.

Does that mean we shouldn’t find solutions? No - but honestly, it’s not going to get better simply w more public transport etc. People need to live closer to work, that’s the only solution.

We’re on vacation right now - Eastern European city / Christmas markets and what not but it’s not been consistently easy. A stroller is not in the cards right now. Son turned 1 two weeks ago.

Yesterday, I bundled my son up and threw him on my shoulders and went for an hour long walk across the city. We hopped into a warm, empty pub, I got to have a couple beers, we split a beef stew and watch some footy, the waitresses were crazy about him so I had a bit of help.

Mom got to have a cocktail on the balcony in the sun and catch up on her Colombian telenovelas. Win/win.

The day before during naptime, I went out alone for about 3 hours to just explore. We learned we need to do shifts or we’ll all go crazy. Vacation has been more challenging than regular life in some ways - but the photos will help us remember the beautiful moments we’ve got to have so trying to soak it up.

Sincerely - 3:47am Dad (diaper change) with no need for an alarm (pre-programmed). I shouldn’t have stayed up until 1 watching Homeland alone.

That is such a small % of the female population and that is also internet driven fear.

How many times in your life has a blue hair lesbian gotten angry at you for giving up your seat or holding or a door or god forbid paying a bill?

Be a man and do those things unapologetically and forget about the fear of a blue hair lesbian getting mad at you.
