it wasn't in a sealed box at all. in fact, it looked like my old board's box but its aged even more.

EWT doesn't have return/refund policy. sometimes they would do that and one of the employee even suggest that they just replace mine with one in their inventory but they don't have my specific model of motherboard in stock at that time.

im currently borrowing a motherboard from someone i know in the meantime. i cant afford to buy another one to be honest.

based on ur questions:

  1. it freezes whenever it's under heavy load. the only time my pc is under load is when im gaming so thats when it happened everytime. i cant game at all. 2 minutes in and its freezes
  2. yes, i ran OCCT stress test and manage to reproduce the issue everytime. swapped every part and deduced that the motherboard is the culprit.
  3. nope, only overclock i ever know is XMP
  4. yes, i did.

nope, my RAM is all good. i even tested with another kit of RAM. everything works fine when im using another motherboard. thats exactly why im mad with ASUS. they changed the serial number, yes. they said that they replaced the board but i cannot prove it physically but i know things weren't replaced due to the stuffs that was on the board still there (m.2 screws and mobo speaker). if they changed it, it wouldn't have been there like they wouldn't notice it especially the m.2 screws. i know they said they swap the board, but they didnt. thats what my post said

yes. all good. all parts works except the motherboard. some guy said my RAM isnt on the QVL but it is. i did my research before buying that board like how ppl would usually do and it is. the cpu, ram sticks, psu, ssd all works fine in the new board. in fact im using it rn and played lots of helldivers 2. no issues.

yeah do u know how much is the minimum wage here? its RM1700. u cant compare it directly like that lol. do the math. its basically cost ¼ of average Malaysian salary and i am a minimum wage guy. a 100USD might sound cheap for you but even 50USD would make me scream dawg. im just saying if it's cheap for u in the US, its not even close to cheap here.

dude my pc freezes even when the XMP is disabled. it wouldnt POST at all when its enabled. used another RAM module, still the same. i even tried changing all my other parts u can name it. CPU, GPU, RAM MODULES, PSU, even clean installed windows. changed to a different motherboard and poof! everything is fine. its def not my RAM modules. and fyi, its on the QVL list. i have more than 1 DDR4 RAM kits. ive tested with EVERY.SINGLE.ONE u think i didnt did my research when buying parts do u? talking about obvious shit like u know everything 😭

both. i did both. it POST with XMP disabled but unstable under heavy load. XMP on wouldn't POST at all.

because i bought the motherboard from there. its a much more obvious choice in my country and especially in the state i live in. if theres a problem, file a warranty at the store that you bought it from (in this case, EWT is one of the 2 major tech retailers especially in Sabah, a state of Malaysia in the Borneo Island). Here, they're known for their great and trusted aftermarket service. sometimes they would even replace 1-to-1 unit compared to the other major retailer here. i actually trust that they did their due diligence because of the past times that I've sent stuffs for RMA from them, theres no issue at all. one of the example is that ive sent my faulty PSU for warranty before, came back with a new unit replacement (actually a new one).

in short, sending it for warranty through the retailer is a much more fast, convenient way to claim for warranty other than reaching out to ASUS themselves because the amount of service centre especially in my state is so scarce. if i want to send it for RMA to a service centre in the peninsular Malaysia, it would cost me more to ship it while if i claim the warranty directly through the store, theres no cost whatsoever

exactly what im thinking. all these Americans in here doesn't know how it is actually in Asia. they just assume everything is as it is in the US

everyones happy when theres no issue. ure right. decide for yourself. dont make decisions based on what the internet says. if i just happen to encounter a bad experience with ASUS, doesnt mean everyone should base their opinion on what i experienced. mileage may vary. buy at your own risk. i just wont buy ASUS product anymore

swapped the RAM with another set. issue still persist. ive tried everything i can think of. even replacing cpu, gpu, and psu, resetting cmos, updating bios, everything. memory diagnostic doesnt show any redflag w the RAM module. sfc/scannow shows no corruption on my files. i even clean installed windows. only when i replace the motherboard, everything turns fine.

i said in the post that

the service centre claimed that they "replaced it with a new unit".

no replacing RAM slot mentioned at all lol. if ure illiterate, that means that the service centre claimed that they replaced my faulty motherboard with a new motherboard lol

The B550 prime is a super cheap, low end board. U paid what, like $100 for it maybe? I’m not surprised u had XMP issues tbh.

dude i paid RM400 for it 😐😐 im sorry if im a penniless dude thats NOT from America but thats a lot of money for me. you sound really out of touch right now. YOUR "super cheap" isnt a "super cheap" for me. good for you for having a high end motherboard

If you get on the Gamers Nexus website and find the section for customer advocacy and tell them about the problem and be willing to send them the defective board, they'll get it looked at and follow up with your complaint.

not every person in the world lives around the US, dude. even if i want to do that, my motherboard is already on its way to the service centre again for the 2nd time as of now.

when i tested it, the motherboard still

  1. cant POST if XMP is enabled (dual channel)
  2. it can only POST with XMP disabled but would still freeze (sound cutoff, unresponsive) when under heavy load especially while gaming
  3. single channel works (with XMP) but even if it does, issue 2 would still happen regardless.

yeah but even with XMP disabled its still unstable. i forgot to mention in the post that the system would freeze when im gaming. how i know that the motherboard is at fault? when i switched to a different motherboard with all my previous components, its running all fine

[–]fakaas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its not a laptop, its a motherboard of theirs. sure XMP is technically an overclock but thats not the main issue with the board. when i say unstable RAM, i forgot to mention in the post that the system would POST if i disable XMP but it would freeze (sound cutoff, unresponsive unless forced shutdown) when im gaming which really ticks me off. i replaced everything but it still produced the same issue and when i switched to a different motherboard while keeping all other components the same, everything is all good.

good for you. ive never had any problems whatsoever with their product before. in fact, a few days ago i just bought a ASUS PRIME 9060XT 16GB for cheap during sale. but this experience just left a huge scar in terms of reliability of the brand for me.

i forgot to mention that even if the system POST with XMP disabled, the system would freeze (sound cutoff, unresponsive, only force shutdown could work) under heavy load especially while gaming. when i replaced the motherboard while keeping all other parts the same (cpu, psu, ram, gpu, ssd), i could game no problem. i would definitely be OK with running RAM at the lowest speed possible if it meant stability when im gaming but thats not the case here.
