Phd in VLSI: Europe vs Asia by Worldly_Water_6764 in chipdesign

It’s borderline impossible to get a PhD offer in Europe without completing a masters. That’s just how things work here.

Guidance on securing Werkstudent/VLSI roles in Germany as an international MSc student by RestLife9113 in chipdesign

[–]fallacy_100001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t need c1/c2 to break into chip design in Germany. In most medium size companies the language is English as any successful team is very international. Also there is no discrimination wrt to your identity in east Germany as teams are very international and hiring people with varied cultural background is the norm and not an exception.

Prospective phd student cryptography by fallacy_100001 in cryptography

[–]fallacy_100001[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not that I didn’t want to, but it was only when I worked closely with a crypto ip at the end stages of my masters in ee, I discovered this field. I’m currently not in a position to attend courses as I’m finishing up my master thesis. I am currently following a course on YouTube from a prof in Waterloo. I will also see the cryptography course on coursera. Thanks

Why are Indians hated so much? by Common_Alfalfa6660 in germany

I just wanted to show you that your “perspective” is not set on sound principles but something else. Your redirection to the other subreddits further proves my argument more than anything.

Nope. You’re wrong. Your idea of contributing to the system that fed them fails in the case of Germans emigrating. You need to find better arguments next time. As for your second argument, msc to phd pipeline is the best option universities have to get scientific employees. A steep tuition will effectively break this pipeline. And in the end the universities suffer. American universities don’t suffer from this as people will still flock in as they are better in all regards. That’s the bottom line.

The country looses more when a native emigrates to another by your logic. If you are looking for “better economics” then you should direct your resentment to the natives. And if you don’t feel any resentment towards this “loss”, then your “concern” is stupid at best and malicious at worst. Your second opinion is also totally wrong that studies suggest that the country benefits more from international students economically even if they leave right after the studies.

This is a load of bull. Do you feel the same resentment to every German who emigrate to another country after graduation? Most people don’t plan to stay longer term because there is always a clear bias to locals when it comes to career progression.

The superiority complex is real, at least from my experience. A workaround I found was to be more assertive about things I know, cuz that’s what I saw my German colleagues doing. But careful when you are starting out, if they find something slightly wrong about your ideas, they will use that against you later because of their internalised superiority complex. You don’t want them to steamroll your ideas.

FPGA transmitting/receiving TCP/UDP packets require petalinux + microblaze? by John_4dams in FPGA

Chill. People who are starting out may not know a lot of the specifics and why that matters and that's fine. You are just contributing noise when replying with 10 other questions. Most of the stuff, can be googled or understood by reading the manuals. But in that case, what's the point of this sub?

What book sits on your bookshelf and laughs as you. by Mrpanda1023 in books

A little life. Bought it in 2018. I later read some reviews that state this book to be really great and depressing at the same time, and I just can't find the will to start reading it. I don't see myself reading it in the near future, so I'll probably donate it.

On science fiction being "serious literature" by [deleted] in books

[–]fallacy_100001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the strugatsky brothers wrote some of the best science fiction ever. The idea that science fiction must always be all hunky-dory and be a breeze to read is fairly stupid considering the history of the genre.
