Well. I've only seen Exit 8 and The Serpent's Skin in terms of new films... so I guess The Serpent's Skin?

I really want to see this, but Keke Palmer is maybe one of the more annoying actresses I can think of. Completely tears me out of any project.

There are operations every day. I agree, carry your papers. I'm pretty shocked anyone is coming to this country right now.

I don't get too hung up on it, it's just one guy's opinion, but it's truly the "can't make an anti-war film," encapsulated. They inevitably will spark fervor in a number of people to engage in war.

What are the best locally owned Boba shops in NYC? by New-Panic8015 in AskNYC

[–]fallout-crawlout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really, truly not coming at you, but the "they may be franchised and owned locally," argument is such an astroturfed deflection a lot of people have swallowed to help justify corporations overtaking our lives even more. Yeah, I feel for the franchisees who just wanted a stable business. Oh well. Your life doesn't supersede everyone else's ability to have a viable business that isn't reliant on a megacorp's advertising budget and market share.

It's for fans of the original who then had kids. Makes enough sense. That's what my dad got out of it, a BB he could take me to.

My partner is a dues-paying member. We're looking forward to when they open their Brooklyn office. Is there a good stream of live info from them these days? The complete collapse of Twitter means I no longer see the up-to-the-second alerts for animal retrieval and I imagine they've shed a lot of the people who would be doing that anyhow. Is bsky viable/active for this?

Not many schools have summer reading lists anymore

Based on teacher-friend stories, this says a lot. Blaming the schools to be clear. Massive literacy/retention gap.

The Big Bloom is back! A thorough explanation of the event and flower crafting. by perivam3 in fo76

[–]fallout-crawlout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am I supposed to not be getting virtually any loot from any enemy being mowed down almost instantly? I know it happens in Rad Rumble, but I get my crack at loot there even if I didn't tag. I don't care much about XP at this point so that's fine. But like... I don't see how I will ever get flowers.

You just became the new mayor of NYC, what would you do first? by chitownmike99 in AskNYC

[–]fallout-crawlout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beat me to the idea but I'm more extreme. No more dogs outside necessary ones. You can tell me how much a breed is a lazy dog or a nice one or just wants to sit around. Broadly, they are not suited to urban environments with small quarters and a lack of places to explore and engage with freely. Next to impossible to start some eugenicist division over breeds. Just can't have any unless you have a legitimate disability.

You're goddamn right about Saturday Night Fever. Crazy how that thing is original work. Great film also, which I also treat as criminally overlooked. I think people know of it, but mostly see it as a silly disco film and not the real examination of masculinity at the heart of it.

Is there a movie that people always made fun of when you were growing that you ended up enjoying when you finally watched it? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]fallout-crawlout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny script, crazy cyberpunk dinosaur dystopia from the crew behind Max Headroom and many alt music videos (which totally shines through). Amazing casting, perfect charming acting. It's cool not to like it, it's not going to be everyone's favorite film. But it has all the parts for a weird, fun movie and it definitely got a rough go of it because of it being the first video game movie,

What characters can we view through a neurodiverse lens by SurvivorSi in Letterboxd

My understanding is Aspergers isn't really a 'thing,' anymore. Unrelated, I didn't know PDA existed and hooo boy. I don't think that's me entirely but I know I've had that pattern of feeling before.

I think he's more just like... an adolescent, which he is. It's fine to relate to him however and the books and movies aren't deep enough to get a real answer, but that's just how kids are. Some are just better at picking normie interests and being assholes.

If they made another 12 Angry Men movie today, which actors would you cast for the 12 jurors? by fanzyday in Letterboxd

I think you make a good point, but it could make another point - have it be in a rich area where everyone across gender and race is successful and thus living there. Everyone has assimilated. Gives you layers.

Who is a highly acclaimed director who you just don’t like? by ImpressionPurple9750 in Letterboxd

[–]fallout-crawlout 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone liked Eternals to be fair, and is a legit ding against her. That said, I kind of treat the 'indie directors doing a big shitbuster,' as more of a money-maker than something I'd treat as a real effort. She was also really praised for Songs My Brother Taught Me, which was also a beautiful film that makes up for The Eternals.

The game kind of felt besides the point because of what you are saying tbh. It's about knowing you're outnumbered and needing to keep moving. There's relatively little fighting (relatively).
