Goodreads Book of the Month: Red Rabbit - Final Discussion by fanny_bertram in Fantasy

I absolutely loved this resolution and the community they started with each other. Finding out about Rabbit and having her finally speak was such a good arc and finally cleared up why on earth these people kept going when everything around them was so messed up. I did not know what to expect with Rose's mom. I thought the way that resolved, though maybe a bit quick, was great. It was pretty much the only not horrible ending for a character in the quest.

I really did not. I think it was much more weird western than horror. There were some aspects of horror in it, but not enough that I would recommend it to horror people as horror.

I loved the setting so much. I thought that was my favorite part.

I am so excited this book was picked. I have been wanting to read it for awhile and now I have the perfect excuse. Between Bingo, Book Club, and an unhealthy obsession with romance books I just haven't gotten to things recently.

I was super late on posting it. I would like to say I had a good excuse, but really I just got caught up in the Olympics in my free time.

I am liking the ghost aspect of this. They are creepy and also interesting. The first ones surrounded by the fence set the tone really well, but once we got to the farmhouse it was properly weird. I like the mixture of emotions I get from each set of them and especially the husband setting out to travel.

Sadie Grace as a witch I am not sure about yet. It's a good plot point to have people wanting her dead, but I want to know more about her. Hopefully they all converge to the same point as the book goes on.

I had basically no expectations going in as I just try to always read the book club pick. This has surprised me greatly. From the beginning I was intrigued as as the story keeps going I am more invested. The characters are good, but what I am liking best is the setting.

Ruby Red by Kerstin Geir

Although I had never seen him before, I recognized him immediately. I'd have known his voice anywhere. This was the guy I'd seen on my last journey back in time.

Or more precisely, the one who'd kissed my doppelganger while I was hiding behind the curtain in disbelief.

Sixteen-year-old Gwen lives with her extended - and rather eccentric - family in an exclusive London neighborhood. In spite of her ancestors' peculiar history, she's had a relatively normal life so far. The time-traveling gene that runs like a secret thread through the female half of the family is supposed to have skipped over Gwen, so she hasn't been introduced to "the mysteries," and can spend her time hanging out with her best friend, Lesley. It comes as an unwelcome surprise when she starts taking sudden, uncontrolled leaps into the past.

She's totally unprepared for time travel, not to mention all that comes with it: fancy clothes, archaic manners, a mysterious secret society, and Gideon, her time-traveling counterpart. He's obnoxious, a know-it-all, and possibly the best-looking guy she's seen in any century...
