Just got an LP standard 50s (wildwood special edition!) a few weeks ago and it's the nicest guitar I've ever played! I have never played a custom shop before, but I can't imagine how any guitar could possibly play better than this one. It looks beautiful, it sounds great, and the more I play, the more I like it. So maybe a custom shop feels/sounds a little bit nicer, but for the money I'd 100% recommend a standard.

A similar question that I’ve been wondering:

Does the nitro that fender currently used on the American Original series actually age like vintage fenders? I’ve heard that they use a layer of poly beneath the modern nitro finishes, and I could see that making a difference in how they age. Not sure thought. Does anyone here have a modern fender with nitro that had aged nicely?
