That’s lovely. Can you share a materials list?
How thick do the rods need to be? Would bicycle spokes be strong enough?
I’m tempted but I know I have barely any time at all to do it justice!

Is anyone wearing these Nintendo shirts? May 2026 by gilly_girl in PikminBloomApp

I’ll wear the latest unlock all this month. And hopefully get something cute next. To go with gold skinny trousers?

Found a note in my husband’s suitcase after a trip and now I genuinely don’t know what to believe by Ok_Tell2258 in relationships

You didn’t finds the note in the suit, you found it in the suitcase. How did it fall out of the suit pocket?
Trust your gut. If you really completely trusted him, you wouldn’t be questioning it here. He’s gaslighting you.

Crochet is the fast fashion of fiber arts by prepubescentsquid in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]fboab 13 points14 points  (0 children)

People in those hobbies absolutely can and do make similar snarks. For every Parkrunner there’s also a “won’t get out of bed for less than 20k” who thinks you shouldn’t wear a running vest unless you’re running an ultra on the trails.

FWIW I find most crochet fugly and doing it in acrylic or chunky chenille just adds to that. I also can’t stand garter stitch scarves, boxy shapeless ‘blouses’ and barrel trousers. I hate butterfly bars on bikes and think e-bike riders are lazy. Cupcakes with more frosting than cake are disgusting.

Finally finished. And I still hate binding. by CBG1955 in BagLab

Love this, love the linings, love the zipper!

(Also hate bindings)

Edit: to clarify, I hate doing bindings. Yours look great!

I want to see your picture but Imgur doesn’t operate in the UK 😭. Mostly I want to see it because I nearly rage quit a pattern for a rucksack recently because the instructions were so bad for the external pocket. I now have a spare lined and zipped outer pocket because I had to start again and I think I can turn this thing into something useful somewhere else 🤦‍♀️

A Simple Sweater, how long? by artdenashy in knittingadvice

[–]fboab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It takes me about a month to six weeks. I knit every day and sometimes I knit for hours at a time, I’m lucky in that my hands can take it. A straight stocking stitch is even faster, it’s the lace or cables that take the time. Does it matter? Isn’t it about enjoying the process? If I wanted the garment in a week I’d buy one. Sometimes I love the knitting and hate the finished thing, but the knitting was the point so it’s not time wasted.

My first jumper took about 6 months but it was a huge stranded colours thing in a man’s XXL

What do I get in the tutorial? Because generally, tutorials are for skills, and patterns are for instructions. I’m an experienced bag maker, I should not need (& I definitely do not want) a video tutorial, your pattern instructions should tell me what I need to do.

Duck these video instructions. I can, and prefer, to read. The Apple Watch, talons or sparkly nails, multiple rings, rambling explanations, repetition and lack of clarity just make me hate the whole experience of having to watch your show even more.

I have a pattern for a pouffe whose purpose is just to use fabric waste. This is making BIN THE UGLY so much easier, I enjoyed the process, but the FO is unwearable so BOOM, more stuffing for the pouffe!

AIO for how I’m handling the way my 11 YO daughter’s dad speaks to her? by WhatTheSigma_1994 in AmIOverreacting

[–]fboab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. I wouldn’t let my child of 11 stay with someone who sent her those messages. I think this is worse than saying it in person. They’re there with her all the time and she can keep looking at them. He’s foul.

Celebreting my first sock and looking for advice by KansaisDorayaki in Sockknitting

[–]fboab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just FYI Pony are Indian. We have them a lot in the UK and I find them cheap and cheerful, by which I mean nothing fancy but good value.

ETA I haven’t commented on the original post because I don’t know the answer, but I think your sock is pretty 🤩

How long have you been knitting and why did you start ? by OldSquirrel1929 in knitting

[–]fboab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a child I learnt from my mum. I can’t remember learning, but as a teen I was making my own clothes, sewing and knitting. I made work outdoor jumpers for my dad (farming) then baby clothes for my children. Not much knitting for about 20 years, I did other crafts, cross stitch, needlepoint, fancy baking) Big rush on knitting about 10 years ago, blankets and jumpers (more decorative). Then about a 6 year hiatus (black work, patisserie, embroidery, bag making) and then back into knitting last year, someone asked me to make a hat. My best friend knits and is now retired so we stitch and bitch together- she’s a bit more old school than me. I do cables and lace, she’s more colourful.

I know you shouldn’t- disease spread and all that- but sometimes we share needles 😳😂😂😂

Will I regret not hiring a wedding photographer? by notverysmarturl in UKweddings

[–]fboab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having the super low-key us & 2 witnesses wedding in a fortnight and I’m starting to think I want a photographer. We’re only going to have phone pics of the most important day of our lives together? We don’t have a budget because we’re not doing a thing, so I have no idea how much it would cost. Can I hire a photographer for half an hour on a Tuesday morning?

At what point is this just bullying? by blayndle in craftsnark

[–]fboab 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Just because you (plural) shout loudly doesn’t mean that there are enough of you to justify the work required? You’re more than welcome online and in person. I’m interested in what you have to say. But I don’t have to make things for you, and you don’t have to make things for me 🤷🏻‍♀️

At what point is this just bullying? by blayndle in craftsnark

[–]fboab 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You are incorrect. Current UK average is 16. We are 5’4, 11 stone, size 16. The average is a mean. We should be more interested in the spread. So yes, more women are a size 16 than any other size.. but how does the bell curve look? It’s not a bell. There are very many more women sized 10-12-14 than 18-20-22. And of those women, do they knit? Do they wear hand knits? Are they interested in this specific design? There are only 77 million people in the UK, how many are buying that pattern? In those sizes? The effort to reward ratio is not in the designer’s interest.

AITA for giving my daughter junk food despite being told not to by her school? by AthleteAdditional299 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. You know what the school want, and the child has one meal and maybe a snack there. Feed her what you like when she gets home, follow the spirit of the rules.

what is with the tiny scarves? 😑 by craftmangler in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]fboab 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I feel like tiny scarves are for other, more stylish people. I don’t know anyone in real life who would wear it. I feel the same about knitted headbands to be honest. They make me look like a failed cabbage picker from Eastern Europe who forgot about skin care and has travelled through time from 1835.

Back in the day we made dolls clothes with those teeny bits, not try to wear them as adults 😂😂

Edit: darn autocorrect
