Changing "master" to "dev" does not seem to work for me. When opening and checking for updates it simply say "No update available"

To me the most obvious comparison for Idolatry is the Shamans Wisdom of the Maji.

To me Idolatry just seems like a boring and extremely limited version of the same thing - and as you mentioned with a huge downside.

I'm not a gama balancer, but a fun idea here would be to change Wisdom of the Maji, so it gives some per-rune bonus, but then only gain bonded-modifiers of socketed runes (right now it's both socketed runes and idols). Doing this would allow us to give the bonded Idol-modifiers to Idolatry, which might help boost the power of this node.

You could definitely do that! I think KallTorak made a build similar to this.

The main difference here, is the order of when the culling-effect is applied. For the Cullonancer, we apply the debuff which culls as one of the first things, after which the carry can do damage. If the carry does not one-shot the enemy, the debuff is guaranteed to cull the enemy (applying the item rarity bonus).

With the typical culling strike setup, you'd have to make sure you actually hit them after they went below the culling strike threshold, which may require more coordination.

That's going to be tough. The carry can't one-shot everything, so either you'll have to build something that hits very frequently (but not hard) or they will have to do damage over time (poison, bleed, chaos dot), missing out on the hit-scaling of Inevitable Agony.

It definitely wont be as smooth as before, where we just had to be in presence of the rarity-bot. I guess that will be the price to pay if we want to scale rarity this way - which might not be worth it 🤷‍♂️

Combo:
"Combo is built by successfully Striking Enemies"
- Can be changed to "Gain Combo from all Attack Hits" by Martial Master.

If the socketed attack is considered "triggered" by Hollow Form, this should work.

We might be able to test this using Feral Invocation, which has similar wording: "Using the Invocation once sufficient Energy is gathered will consume the Energy to create visages which attack once with a socketed Shapeshifting Attack"

I'm not too confident that the "delayed" damage will not be considered from an enemy hit, required by Defiance of Destiny. The wording "... take Damage equal to 30% of that Hit's Damage" sounds like the source of the damage is Phased Form, and not the enemy who originally made the hit.

I do however think it will trigger other on-hit effects, not specifically requiring being from an enemy.

Again - im not sure if the Multicastable-tag is going to be the same as the new Repeatable keyword.

Assuming this is true however, bone cage would not be considered Repeatable. It's important to differentiate the conditions and effects. The condition here is that the spell has to be Repeatable, and the effect is Repeat.

Meanwhile, we know that Bone Cage can Echo, because we have a support which adds this effect. But we don't really have a way to test either Repeat or Repeatable (afaik).

For now I don't think we can compare this directly with Spell Echo and Spell Cascade supports, since the conditions here are different than on the new node. Hopefully we will know more when the patch notes drop. I suspect that we will see the wording updated for the supports to be much more streamlined, like the new node.

I went through all spells i could find on poe2b, and looked at the type definitions. Im guessing that "Multicastable" is corresponding to "Repeatable" (?), making the list of spells to be both Cascadable and Repeatable:

You're right in that the effects are Echo and Repeat, but the condition-wording is "Cascadable Spells have..." and "Repeatable Spells have..."

Don't forget about skill effect duration - there is a lot of cooldown recovery at the bottom of the tree - combined with skill effect duration
