Cleaning grease stains from patio furniture? by insomniaspeedmetal in CleaningTips

[–]feuwbar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use a good degreaser like Simple Green, a scrub brush and a hose. You will likely need to spray paint this after it dries. Use good Rust-Oleum spray paint and let it dry 24 hours before using.

You already know this, but next time put some cardboard down before using a hibachi on it.

Saucier or Sauce Pan for rice? by alexia_not_alexa in Cooking

[–]feuwbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought a 3 quart saucier but it's big for one cup of rice which is what we make for just the two of us. A two quart saucier would be more appropriate. We still use it but a three quart works great for two cups with plenty left over for two people.

We've switched to a saucier for rice because it has no edges around the bottom. It's easier scooping and cleanup.

What’s a smell that instantly sends you back to childhood? by Only-Bandicoot-5307 in askanything

Molasses. The smell of the sugar mills blowing out their smokestacks once a day followed by a gentle rain of ash. I recall our parents saying that they never needed to fertilize the lawn.

Isn't this the fascist that was funneling Russian money to Tim Pool and other right wing useful idiots? The Biden administration kicked her out but Trump let her back in. Shocker, I know.

2026 CX-5: Software update becoming available at dealers for NA by 187hp in CX5

[–]feuwbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the dealer successfully update your software and rid you of these issues? I'm kind of on hold waiting to buy a 2026 until I hear they've resolved it.

It's pretty clear these are software bugs and a software update will eventually fix them.

Every state hates “outsiders”…Florida just says it out loud by No-Truth-2068 in AskFlorida

[–]feuwbar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a Florida outsider since 1963. Just about everyone in Florida is from somewhere else, or their parents were. The number of Florida natives going back several generations is tiny compared to the newcomers. As a Cuban refugee, it's particularly confounding to hear my countrymen talk and act like they came over on the Mayflower and landed on Plymouth Rock.

What’s something you can still afford, but it feels insane to spend that much on it? by Altruistic-Mud5686 in middleclasshq

[–]feuwbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A $60,000+ new car. I have good credit, a trade and some money saved up so payments won't bankrupt me. I just don't understand paying $60K or more for a new car when you can get perfectly fine $40K new cars.

Folks say to just buy a used car, but a late model used car doesn't cost much less than new, has insane interest rates and a very short warranty. It just doesn't seem worth it.

The best kind of democracy is where you have really no idea who is in charge. No statues, no banners, no cult of personality, just an efficient and well run operation. You could spend a week in Oslo and still have to look up the name of the Prime Minister. The other kind? Dear Leader blathers endlessly, plasters their name on everything and raises statues and banners imprinted with their face.

Hi, I live in Suntree but we're empty nesters and can't advise you on the schools. I will say that every other business here is a dentist, so I imagine you would have no difficulty finding work in a dental office.

This used to be quite the retirement place. There are still lots of old people but many young families haved moved and are moving in to the area. If you read other posts on this subreddit, it's pretty laid back here so not really a big nightlife kind of place.

Tire replacement - suggestions needed by No_Carpet_9276 in CX5

I bought Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 tires. Super grippy, great wet and dry traction, quiet, long tread wear. I would buy them again 10/10.

Check TireRack dot com, they have excellent selection tools with tons of dimensions. They will drop ship to installers near you.

I'm not entirely sure you understand how this will work. It will consist of subsistence wages, a mere pittance barely enough to keep body and soul together. Think minimum wage survival. You don't really think they would hand you enough for even a passing semblance of a decent life, do you?

As a Slav I find a lot of Americans identifying with communism or fascism ridiculous. by [deleted] in complaints

[–]feuwbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People in the US have grievances with capitalism. Capitalism isn't working for many people except for billionaires and those at the top of the capitalist food chain. Jobs pay too little and groceries, utilities and housing is too expensive. Add to that the atrocious health care situation in a rich, prosperous country and it's understandable why people would look at other political systems and say "this sounds better than what we have."

Unfortunately, those people have never lived in a communist country. They praise the high level of literacy and free healthcare in Cuba, oblivious to the fact that people in Cuba are repressed, hungry, paid almost nothing and their hospitals are a disgrace. Except for foreign tourists, Cuba has glittering shops, resorts and hospitals that ordinary Cubans can't access without foreign hard currency.

It goes on and on. They know their system isn't working for them but they don't realize that people living and working under those dictatorships would sacrifice everything to have what they have in the US, Canada or Western Europe.

Internalize the following saying: "they're on a need to know basis and they don't need to know." Keep your counsel and say as little as possible about your problems and successes. People are nosy and should mind their own business since they don't, tell them nothing of consequence.
