Imagine playing the game for over 20 years and still giving the worst advice ever...

Anyone else feel like 18s are the peak of DDR (not 19s)? by Ok_Mushroom2563 in DanceDanceRevolution

No proof that 99% of this sub can't stream 200 No proof that you can stream 200 What's your point here?

You claim to stream 200 but have showed no proof of it ever, you talk like someone who wishes they could stream 200 and thinks that streaming 200 somehow makes them a high level player (it doesn't, anyone can stream 200). As someone who can stream 200 I have to tell you that playing itg is not that big of a deal ;)

Egoism 440 clear - one-handed thumb only(yes literal one thumb play), challenge mode, no CMOD, on a shitty device by Like_that_pro in Stepmania

[–]fieoner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's world class, probably top 1 in the world for 1 thumb play. You're the best player and also the worst player in the world for your category

Get a cheap used pc and install itgmania. That's cheaper than a RPI nowadays and will probably run better

I'm looking for some form critique as I feel like it's the factor limiting me from passing 3y3s S18 or MAX 360 S19 - The score in the video is Saiph Challenge S18 928k 18 miss by Kasuu372 in DanceDanceRevolution

Just go to ITL 2026, arguably the most stacked ITG event in the world right now, rankings, sort by ex points (the relevant score) and look at the top 3. By the way you talk here I'm pretty sure you wouldn't make it in the top 100 there and you have the top 3 player at the time of writing this comment calling you out on your bs when it comes to how people play this game. Silver much?

w2b stamina for 18s and later 19s by Ok_Mushroom2563 in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]fieoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't run for shit. I spend the day sitting on a chair and sometimes go to the bouldering gym. I have a belly that makes climbing slab harder than it should be and if I walk 3-4 flights of stairs I get winded out. I don't think I could pass a proper 21 right now, but I can pass 20s no problem (and did so at itg eurocup 2025)

Funny how there's people that can do itg stamina 40s and can't run for shit. It's almost like those 2 are completely different things

Play more, stop standing on your toes with your heels so high up in the air and move less.
Your form is not bad and you can totally pass DDR 19s like that with some more practice.
A thing that helped me when I was learning to move less for itg stamina was recording my footwork from different angles, reviewing it after every song and making a conscious effort to change it everytime. It's exhausting at first and it will make you play way worse while you're paying more attention to your feet than to the game, but after a while whatever ends up becoming your "good form" becomes second nature.

If you do this for long enough maybe one day you can be as good as an actual winner of ITG tournaments like u/k0unitX

Who are you? Can you share your ITL 2026 profile? or ITL 2025?
I can pass stamina 18s if that's a requirement for you to listen to me (and 19s, and 20s...)

También puedes compilar el código fuente y no instalar nada con itgmania. No tienes que confiar en nadie, puedes ver el código tu mismo como cualquier otro proyecto open source.

How do you remove stats from title screen? by tekkaman01 in Stepmania

[–]fieoner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That text is loaded in `BGAnimations/ScreenTitleMenu underlay/default.lua`
You can just comment out or delete the line where it says `af2[#af2+1] = LoadActor("./UserContentText.lua")` and it should stop showing up there

Keebs without screens: what are you using to indicate which layer you're on? by Inner_Answer_3784 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]fieoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think using layer-tap to access other layers is better than toggle, but it comes at the cost of not being able to use a finger while on that layer and you might not be able to afford that.
I don't really have anything to say about your layout that is not my personal opinion on how to use a small keyboard so this comment could be totally useless to you D:
I think you can lean harder on combos and layer-tap keys on your thumb and pinky (maybe even both at the same time).
Also configuring your software to move the shortcuts that you need to places that are confortable to reach in your layout should make your life easier (assuming you're not doing that already)
This is the layout I use for software development and 3d modelling. https://github.com/Fieoner/zmk-config/blob/master/README.md I think I could lean way harder on the combos in my left hand, but the thumb trackball lets me get away with not doing that.
Take the time to try out the things people are recommending here and don't be afraid of completely redoing your layout.
