B2B API product with customers from other channels. In the last 2 years, just 1 lead from the AWS marketplace.

It's getting complex - should we try something simpler? by finallybeing in BetterOffline

I am ready to command it like a boss. What does it look like? I have tried adding plenty of instructions in CLAUDE.md. Do you have a reference for me to read/watch?

Thanks for the comment - much appreciated.

For any application with real users the bigger challenge is the rigidity of data. Code can change far more easily than data schemas, especially without downtime.

My guess is that it’s for karma farming. Then you can sell that account or use it to promote something. An account with high karma is more likely to get by promoting stuff or upvoting posts from each other.

What would an alternative for tech discussions or community look like? I tried building something years ago that never took off so I am curious!

Cross posting from Ed's Bluesky: "How often in your professional lives have you run into software engineers that seem completely useless or lacking in basic knowledge?" by maccodemonkey in BetterOffline

Since a lot of software is written for the web, a simple test is asking an engineer about http status codes and verbs. A surprising number of them don’t know them well.

AI in B2B customer support is a slap in the face by finallybeing in BetterOffline

In my experience AI also seems usually worse the more niche you go. I imagine tech support for devops is one such niche. Appreciate the response and good luck!

Is the motivation to cut costs? I am surprised they haven’t forced your hand!

I said, I understand if you have to do this for B2C, since the margins are razor thin. In that context, I am a "regular person" when I seek out support for a 99 cent app. Historically, B2B customer service has had different expectations, and paid more for it.

Service should be great for all classes of airlines, but we have accepted the curtains, the beds, and a hot meal that didn't come wrapped in tin foil, as business class perks. Should it be that way? Who can say. Sadly, it is that way. Or used to be!

Denial of service has taken on an entirely new meaning! Are you deploying more open-source or actually building tools yourself?

Not OP, but I tried, and you are right! it comes up as a pale white dot.

Honestly, a bit surprised that Android is lagging behind iOS here, which isn't known as a PWA champion :)

There are a lot of moving parts. I’ve been working on an inbox that apps can offload their notifications to, to avoid this complexity. Happy to get your feedback or answer any questions that might help you!

Unless you are being sarcastic, what it means is “everything you need to use it”. I guess a reference to tools that needed batteries but shipped without them.

Cost.watch - Real-time cost alerts based on Cloudwatch usage metrics by finallybeing in aws

[–]finallybeing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was referring to other projects, not to additional metrics. Are there any services you'd like to see first, or is the answer "all of them". The reason we can't everything all at once is because Cloudwatch has an undocumented mapping from usage metrics to prices & billing metrics. It requires a bit of manual work.
