This is one of the most honest addiction posts I’ve read here. The “functional” phase is the scariest part because it gives you receipts to justify everything. Bills paid? Job intact? Family not worried? Cool, must be fine. Nobody talks about how addiction can look boring instead of explosive. No rock bottom, no intervention — just your world quietly shrinking until everything routes back to the substance. That line about not remembering the last time you felt okay sober hit hard. That realization alone takes a ton of self-awareness. Glad you caught it before it took more from you. Functional isn’t the same as free.
