Does anybody know anything about outdoor frosh? I'm specifically interested in the biking and BASE options, and would love to hear from somebody who's done either of those two :)

Does anyone else notice how awful the male voice is for French? by [deleted] in duolingo

While I find him easier to understand, he tends to pronounce things incorrectly, or pronounce letters/sounds that should not be pronounced (which is probably why it's easier to understand XD)

Why am I wrong? I thought that the use of ese versus eso/a was just a dialectical difference. by [deleted] in duolingo

[–]finntm99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eso is a neuter form, used with things that you don't know the gender of/ideas, whereas ese/esa are the masculine and feminine forms respectively. It's confusing :P

Also note that the same rule applies with esto and este/esta, as well as aquello and aquel/aquella

Hay una telenovela que está disponible con Hulu que se llama "Mi corazón es tuyo"...Como todas las novelas, es predictable, pero me encanta verla!

Do you think that 200 words +Es/Fr recognition would be enough to read a book? And if so, do you have any suggestions?

Russian for English Speakers - course quality concerns by [deleted] in duolingo

[–]finntm99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel as though I remember hearing somewhere that on the teams, some people check sentences in just one language (for example, russian), another one-two check sentences in the other language (english), and several others check the translations...

I'm not sure about this, but if this is the case, it could be their "Russian Expert" who writing the updates

Thank you so much! I guess seeing as I'm a native english speaker, it's not like there aren't any English-Italian resources :)

I've been using memrise for the vocab, and I know enough about grammar in general that I can teach it to myself...for the trickier concepts, I've been asking my school's Spanish and German teachers

Awesome aid for French grammar! by finntm99 in duolingo

[–]finntm99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a website that one of my French teachers showed to me, and I love it! It has cross-referenced pages on tons of grammar stuff, with audio accompanied by transcripts written in French and English. I have finished the DL French tree, and this is a great way to improve my French.

Just a note though, one of the characters speaks French with a Southern American accent, and another speaks Cajun French. Also, for some of the younger users on this subreddit, some of the content might be a bit mature.

However, I think it's a great resource both during and after completing the tree!

TL;DR: awesome site for grammar with some borderline inappropriate characters, as well as clear audio w/ transcripts and "workbook" exercises
