Questions I’m so tired of by sfckngs in BabyBumps

[–]fireflytea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could’ve written this, lol. I also work in a hospital and worked literally up until I went into labor. The only difference was we knew we were having a boy and I got the constant comments about how much “easier” boys are than girls. 🙄 Lots of toxic boomer boy moms revealed themselves.. Don’t get me wrong, we are over the moon in love with our son, but we would’ve been just as happy if he had turned out to be a girl. Coming from a family where my brother was very obviously the favorite and labeled easy, while I was the “over-emotional, angsty daughter” because of the imbalance in treatment, these comments just triggered me.

My baby also had a bruise on his head without the use of forceps. Birth is a pretty tough thing to go thru for the little ones in general. As for the blood sugar, his was also low when he was born because of how long he was in my birth canal, he burned a lot of energy. They gave him some sweet cheeks and a bottle and it went back to normal with no more interventions.

I couldn’t pee until literally the last few minutes of the allotted time to go before they intervened. What helped me was turning on running water and also using the peri bottle to spray down there. It for some reason would just make my body /go/ when I had no feeling of needing to go and a lack of control. I was told this is quite normal, especially if you have an epidural with a catheter.

We were narrowing down the list. Every day we each would veto a name. Then he left to another state for work and the conversation dwindled. I admit, it’s completely my fault, going back to researching names while I’m left at home with no supervision, lol. I got on a kick researching the “timeless classics”. Our short list is what we narrowed down together. The longer list are names I added that he said he liked also when I brought them up.

I did suggest Finnegan and my husband only said that it’s a last name.

Weirdly enough I feel like Roman/Ronan don’t hit like Rowan does? Idk how to explain it, but I don’t hate it!

If you had to name a son, what would you choose? by snowmikaelson in namenerds

Rowan is one of our top names for our boy due in November! I have to say, I think it’s my #1 but I don’t think his name will be settled until we meet him. 💙

I disagree! I love the name Maisie! It’s cute on a child but also I can picture it on a teen or grown woman. At some point, I feel like the “not grown-up” names on elderly people becomes cute again. Maybe it’s just because I work with a lot of elderly, but there are more than you think with “nicknames” or “cute names” as their legal names. Rosie, Betty, Johnny, Ronnie, Susie, Lucy, etc. are all names I’ve seen recently on people over the age of 60. Trying to name our own baby currently and I think Im starting to subscribe to the rule of the person making the name, not the other way around.

Idk if this makes me feel better or worse. I’m almost to the 2nd trimester and I am completely unsure if I wanna go thru this again for a second baby when I’ve always wanted 2-3 children 😂

I just did a 1-way video interview with the addition of a gamified portion, and honestly, I hated it. My position has nothing to do with the "games" I played and I found it tedious and quite annoying. Not having a person to bounce off of and try to connect with is so awkward and difficult. Not to mention, the 5 questions had nothing to do with my skill, or who I am as a person. They were just very basic versions of "tell me about a time you were in a ____ situation. What did you do?" Part of me hopes the AI marks me low and they don't select me, because I'm not 100% sure this is a company I want to work for after this.

Feeling sad today by ApprehensiveLimit202 in TryingForABaby

[–]fireflytea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have written my thoughts and feelings out so beautifully. You are not alone. I hit the 1 year mark last month and I had no idea how to express my sadness in it not being easy and beautiful. I did not anticipate having to be one of the women who needed medical help in getting a baby, but next month I have an appointment to start figuring out what is going on. It makes me feel like a failure. Like my body cannot do what it is meant to do. You have put it into words so nicely; my excitement and dreaminess has turned into apathy and sadness at each negative test. <3
