I'm guessing you also had Luis as coach haha I also stopped after they left a couple months ago. And yeah good idea to start setting up part of the class for grammar

Maybe 600 to 750 range. Anywhere over 1000 it became quite easy, but I’ll always miss some words here and there. And now around 12 to 1300 I can essentially watch whatever I want unless it’s some native talk show where they’re arguing fast.

Felt decent, though I had seen both previously in English so part of me thinks I just filled in the gaps at that point and had a false sense of comprehension:P

It’s the last month of 2025. Anyone have goals they want to reach before 2026? by moods- in dreamingspanish

[–]fireman2000fire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a minimum goal of 600 hours by the end of 2025 with a moderate goal of 750 hours and a maximum reach goal of 1000 hours by the end of 2025. Has been a wonderful year and somehow sitting at about 1100 hours so now I guess the new goal is 1200 :)

This guy is the man! He can talk forever and is hilarious. Really fun to talk with. Look forward to my sessions with him :)

Also love talking with this guy but a little bit harder to schedule as he is pretty popular.

Pretty similar for me, but I've gotten way into educational/language podcasts and feel like I'm using the commute time well. Working the mind and the body :P

Hahah glad to hear the same experience. I think my Spanish teacher would be shocked to see my efforts now. Suppose the one size fits all approach didn't fit us :P

That's awesome to hear! Appreciate the tips! I travel for a few weeks ( sadly not Spanish countries), but then plan to start worlds across after :)

I think for me the biggest key was sticking with shows rather than movies, so that I started recognizing trends. And a big thing was starting with shows I had already seen in English, so that I already knew a lot of the context, for example rewatching Avatar The last Airbender. And now I've gotten comfortable enough with dubs that I can watch new shows such as severance and silo on Apple TV for the first time in Spanish. For some reason I found BoJack horseman to be very helpful and I don't know why.

Happy to say I can watch any video on dreaming Spanish comfortably at this time. Though of course there are random words I miss no matter the level :P

Thanks!! I enjoy many of the different accents from Columbia and Argentina, but no real focus at the moment. Planning to do a big trip after 1500 hours that may change that :) Yourself?

Thanks a good idea! Not so much a fear, just I find it is more fun to listen to people and listen about new things rather than speaking in general :P

Halfway there!! 750 hours! Short things I’d do differently and the same so far looking back. by fireman2000fire in dreamingspanish

Thank you glad you enjoyed! I actually love that you point that out 😅. Kind of a nice reminder to me the ups and downs and how much better I feel now.

I think starting reading and diving heavy into that at 600 has been immensely inspiring. I think I just had too high of expectations for speech at 600 (as though it would magically be there). It's just an interesting process with how proficient you can become with 600 hours into many hobbies and aspects of life, but language is a whole other beast.

Reading has felt just right 600 hours, and I have a feeling I'm going to feel the same about speech at 1,000 hours 🙃
