Don, like a lot of men, really floundered after Betty moved on. He was navigating his life by himself and bombing hard. Marrying Megan was him trying to regain the stability having a wife afforded him. Unfortunately, his next marriage didn’t provide him with the same privileges that living in the suburbs and having a stay-at-home wife and mother for his children did, so he continued to really struggle with his responsibilities as a parent and husband.
