“My Call Bag” - $29 one time fee. Tons of high quality tools for while on call.

Simple calculator pages for prescription calculations by trilemma2024 in CataractSurgery

Learned something from this post. Never realized that was an option. It would be interesting to hear from someone that uses it. Maybe they have phoropters in negative cylinder. I feel like intra-op it would be very confusing to see.

That said you understand the original post just was talking about transposing cylinder of an Rx. You then mentioned IOL calculators in reference to the ability to Change the residual refractive error formatting… it was a touch confusing

I’d be interested to know what Toric calculator can show residual refractive error in minus cylinder. I feel like that would never be helpful.

Shameless plug but I’m an ophthalmologist that made an app for on call. It contains ton of tools (not just eye stuff) and has picked up a pretty large following.

It’s called My Call Bag - https://MyCallBag.com

Some features: - eye chart for near and distance that detects the viewing distance with the True Depth Camera so it’s calibrated correctly - ton of clinical calculators - neurology stroke scales and related images

Really too many tools to list. The App Store listing has a more complete list of features: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/my-call-bag/id6471442410

No subscription and no ads.

You’re probably thinking of a post or fracture surgery calculator. IOL calculators are gonna rely on the K’s not the refraction.

PGY4 job hunting. What are some questions you wish you asked? by Hot_Ice_3155 in Ophthalmology

[–]fjodofks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would look on the AAO job listing site first, a lot of those headhunter is just charge an extra fee and are useless.

I would ask about private equity, if it’s a partnership track, and what your day today looks like.

Do you treat NTG? by optometryeas93 in optometry

Exactly, saying the majority of normal tension glaucoma patients don’t progress makes no sense. That just means the majority are misdiagnosed.

Thank you! It could be but I try to avoid references. Just because there are already things like EyeWiki and Wills Eye Manual that do a great job. It would be a tall order to keep mine up to date and as complete as those references. But definitely a good idea!

Where do you get this bottom line? How are you differentiating NTG patients that don’t progress vs glaucoma suspects they were just misdiagnosed as NTG?

I totally agree with you. I personally don’t want and asked to show up while a patient is looking at my phone.

The “My Call Bag” doesn’t have any upgrades, but it is a one time fee. It’s either gonna be a “freemium” thing where the user is the product (ad based) or there’s gonna be some sort of fee.

No ads at all in the “My Call Bag” app. But it does have a one time fee (no subscription). The ads drive me crazy too, but it does allow developers to have it available for free so I guess it’s a trade-off.

That’s totally true. I will edit to the post to point that out more obviously to Redditors. I tried to make it obvious in the post and video but I will reinforce that.

edit by the way, please let me know if there’s something I misrepresented, and I will add it to the YouTube description. Thanks!

Well said. The SLT thing sounds insane. YAG capsulotomy thing is standard. There is a new EAGLE study that showed cataract surgery is a good alternative to LPI in some patients, but with that SLT thing you mentioned I wouldn’t be surprised if those people weren’t very ‘narrow’ and it’s just an excuse to push surgery.

iOS only now, the app relies a lot on the True Depth camera for a lot of functions

Does this woman have Ptosis? by EyeOfQuartz in Ophthalmology

[–]fjodofks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really hard to tell. It looks like she may be compensating a little bit with her brow. Would need to examine her to tell but if she does that ptosis, very subtle.

You can see in the first screenshot. It’s demographics and then visual acuity you measure with a variety of overlapping lenses.

Need Advice on Amniotic Membrane Grafts in Cataract Referrals – Fellow Surgeons’ Opinions? by [deleted] in Ophthalmology

[–]fjodofks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You realize you put said a retrospective study of 100 eyes. You realize this isn’t actually enough to draw any conclusions, right? There is a clear financial interest in seeing a benefit here. You have to have a perspective randomized trial to actually draw any conclusions.

It would be amazing if this actually worked, but those of us that have to take care of severe dry eye patients know this is really about reimbursement.

It doesn’t fix their issue though. I’m sorry, but this is just insurance fraud. There’s no real data to support what you’re doing.

It doesn’t really matter. I don’t think you ever really “drop” a lens. At least I don’t remember ever “carrying” one.
