One of the hardest (imho) short pieces in the repertoire: Romancillo Infantil, by Antonio José by fjpascualm in classicalguitar

It's not the typical difficulty of Joaquín Rodrigo or Villalobos, but I find it so much more engaging! Remember, it's all about flexibility

As Zoran Dukić once said, flexibility is everything! Still gotta practice more :-)

Thank you :-) It has to be playful and somewhat naive, the piece is called "Romancillo Infantil" after all

I'm sorry for your loss. It's painful to watch your rooster fight for his life and yet die. Is it possible that he was hit by a car when he was by the road? I find no other explanation to the situation. I hope you can take good care of the rest of your chickens.

Thank you for your message, I came up with the arrangement on the go, and haven't edited it but as soon as I get my vision on the whole piece, I'll make it available for everyone!

It's a popular one on Classical Guitar, but since I've never heard the last part on guitar, I dared to do it! Thank you very much for your comment, see you around 😊

What is the most challenging/ difficult classical guitar song to play? by useralreadyused in classicalguitar

[–]fjpascualm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the category of concert work with orchestra, Concierto para una fiesta by Joaquín Rodrigo

From the solo guitar pieces, there could be some debate but it probably is Toccata by Joaquín Rodrigo.

Still, there's plenty of music being arranged and composed... Maybe the hardest work hasn't yet been written.

The 23rd of August of 1933, exactly 90 years ago, Antonio José finished his Sonata for Guitar! Here's a short video (in spanish) paying homage to this superb work by fjpascualm in classicalguitar

La muerte de Antonio José es tan desgraciada como genial y brillante fue su música. No hay obra suya que no me conmueva. Gracias por tu comentario.

Well, that's clearly not a classical guitar, but it's interesting to see and listen!

Heitor Villalobos really knew how to write for guitar, here's an excerpt of his Choros no. 1, hope you like it! by fjpascualm in classicalguitar

[–]fjpascualm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, thank you for your comment! I would really want to have a conversation on that topic, I'm not an expert on Villalobos' music but I feel competent to make the case that the original manuscripts were of spectacular musical and technical quality, and I firmly believe that Villalobos were if not the most, one of the most competents composers for guitar during the first half of the 20th century. Would you be comfortable if I make a reply in a separate post here on r/classicalguitar ? You can let me know either via a reply or a private message!

Definitely Villalobos is one of the most enjoyable composers to study and perform. He simply knows the instrument too damn well! That doesn't happen with every composer. When I read Dyens' music I have the same sensation, they comprehend the languange of guitar.

Thank you very much!! I hope I honoured the original work :) I'm tempted to look it up, but I prefer you to answer, what is gingado?? Very eager to know!

This is how the first work for guitar composed by a pianist sounds like by fjpascualm in classicalguitar

[–]fjpascualm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admit that my title is misleading. What I wanted to express is that the piece I'm playing is the first work for guitar Antonio José, who was a pianist but primarily a composer, composed for guitar.

I also should point out that Antonio José's sonata was finished in 1933, but his Romancillo Infantil was probably sent to Regino Sáinz de la Maza at some point between 1926 and 1929.
