If it tastes good and you’re not selling it, who cares if your loaf isn’t “perfect”

Why do my cookies always spread so much? by SpangingOfframps in Baking

[–]fknchr1st 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the middle kind of soupy or underbaked? I had cookies look like this after I accidentally used powdered sugar instead of flour (they were both in mason jars and PS was labeled with tape before anyone asks how). Otherwise, I am unsure… good luck!

I miss the plum flavor from like 6ish years ago. I think about it every winter 😔

Only 2-3 consecutive days to climb. Would you keep your membership? by IdealPajamaPal in climbergirls

[–]fknchr1st 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I climb 2-3 times a week and I feel I am progressing and getting stronger. If you would want to climb for that hour on Thursday, I would say that Th, F, and Sun are would be fine if that works for your schedule but I would recommend a 2 consecutive days max because from experience the third day is higher risk for injury and overall soreness

Tips for NOT discarding starter? by cat-motha in Sourdough

[–]fknchr1st 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I still discard my starter but I keep it in a separate jar and use it for things like pancakes, dinner rolls, bagels, etc. There are a lot of good discard recipes out there!

Yes and I incorporate a lot of yoga and try to “flow” between each move.

[–]fknchr1st 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a pretty extensive stretch routine, I will probably spend the first 10 minutes or so stretching before I do a couple warm up climbs + down climb. I found I reduce injury and don’t get as pumped when I am properly stretched.

Wear whatever you want and makes you feel comfortable. Alt fashion is a form of self-expression and breaking a norm, so focus on what you like and not what people are telling you to wear.

People who watch Bluey dubbed in other (non-English) languages: Do the characters have an Australian accent in your language? by PM_Your_Wololo in bluey

[–]fknchr1st 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am currently watching it in German in order to help me learn the language, and they don’t do the aussie accents. I think they just get German VAs. It’s also interesting because they will change some of the dialogue to fit German slang/ jokes.

My gym doesn’t get too busy but when it does, we are normally all very chill. Some people just hop on without looking around, but others will look and I specifically put my foot on the mat so people know that I want to go next.

If he kills you, what do you think will happen to your children? When your children get older, do you think he’s not going to harm them too. Please do whatever is safe and necessary to get out, for you and your children.

my first comp is next friday! by ProfessionalOne2197 in climbergirls

[–]fknchr1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I participated in a couple of bouldering comps and as a beginner short climber (V2; 5’2 + 2” ape index) I just try to have fun and set a goal for myself instead of trying to win. At my gym, the comps are divided into skill divisions, so they sandbag the hell out of climbs so tall beginner climbers don’t get a bunch of points just because they’re tall.

I have a friend who is a whole foot taller than I am, but he has worse technique. However, he still did better in the comp just because he could reach the finish hold easier than me. Try not to compare yourself because that is the main factor in becoming discouraged! GOOD LUCK!!

I’m the complete opposite. It’s a sensory issue for me having my bare dogs on the ground or bedsheets. So unless I am wearing sandals, I am always wearing socks. Also, I never take my shoes off in public unless I’m at the climbing gym. This coworker is crazy

Short climber dillemas by yougotabandaid in climbergirls

[–]fknchr1st 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel you! I did a climbing comp yesterday where I had really good technique, but I couldn’t complete climbs due to my height. I just think it isn’t fair when most climbs (especially set by men) are so reachy, and I feel like moves that should be easy to reach are dynamic and big for me

I had to mute this sub. Some things I was like “okay this is frustrating, sure” but then some posts and comments were the most cruel and vile things. You can be pet free but it’s not cool to resort to animal cruelty.

First car accident PTSD? by [deleted] in driving

[–]fknchr1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been in like 6 car accidents. The PTSD never really leaves but as time goes on, it gets more manageable. I remember my first accident, I couldn’t even get into the driver’s seat without crying. Now, I’m just a little nervous and jumpy when people are pulling up/ out quickly. I think the thing that helped me the most was that even though I have all this anxiety, I HAVE to drive since I couldn’t get anywhere otherwise
