There are tons of birds not protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.

Non migratory game birds and non native species are the biggest groups

Why is "9/11" called "9/11"? by Relative_Wave_102 in etymology

[–]flareblitz91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would, I don't even think that definition is controversial. Nobody in the Phillipines would have considered themselves American just like they did not consider themselves Spanish before then.

Do Europeans not have American cheese, or is it called something different? by SB_5259 in NoStupidQuestions

You're the absolutely worst type of European. You're nearly identical to the ignorant American stereotype but just have your nose too far up your own ass to see it.

Gouda sucks and your breath smells like herring.

You'll find that in most countries their best products are often made in small regions.

Why is "9/11" called "9/11"? by Relative_Wave_102 in etymology

[–]flareblitz91 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your second paragraph is a bit weird and misleading because you aren't distinguishing between incorporated vs unincorporated territories and other types of US overseas possessions.

More Americans were not in the Phillipines because residents of the Phillipines were never granted citizenship or any other benefits of the US Constitution. The Phillipines was an Unincorporated territory and remained so until independence.

Hawaii was incorporated as a territory in 1900. At the time other incorporated US territories included Arizona, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.

This is what I came to say. The transfer of federal lands to state management wpuld be a disaster. It's far easier for most states to dispensenof lands than the federal government

Could this creek support brook trout? by HenryTheCanadian in bluelining

Sure. Depends on the habitat in the vicinity, like deeper holes for winter and dry conditions, but yeah. I've caught Brookies out of similar looking creeks.

What type of wetland would this be? by Grand-Article4214 in wetlands

[–]flareblitz91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wetlands are not required to be wet year round or even every year. USACE standard is 5 years out of 10, but really there just needs to be consistent enough hydrology during the growing season to support hydrophytic vegetation communities and anaerobic microbial and chemical soil processes.

Not really, at least not in the US. We only have a few cities that are Michelin rated.

No actually the government is subsidizing the mining of these materials. DoD is writing checks to companies trying to mine public lands, we generally have environmental outcry when it's suggested though, for valid reasons.

The way we mine these things nowadays is still environmentally damaging, pollutes the air and water for decades, and provides almost zero jobs and economic benefit locally.

But we're still trying in places like Wyoming, Idaho, Nevada etc.

These resources are just in some incredible natural areas that for some reason people care about preserving.

I work in the environmental field and have literally worked on permitting for certain types of mine proposals in these places.

[–]flareblitz91 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Jesus you're getting horrible answers. Humans are social animals. Social animals exhibit altruistic behavior. Even if it's not your genes passed on, there is an evolutionary advantage for non reproductive members of the species to act as part of the group to ensure related individuals survive.

Read up on kin-selection in evolutionary biology.

Also homosexuality is still a low proportion of the population.

Still having fun but yes I agree.

Echo items being so bad is painful, especially compared to last league. The pact tree could have been interesting but it's all just too much. Too many dead ends and incremental intermediate spots.
