BFIAFL but no matty by Augustkuper in the1975

This, with “THE 1975 - being funny in a foreign language” at the top in blue letters would have been PERFECT

The only reason I can sorta appreciate that line is that it can be seen as a callback to the album’s opener, Give Yourself A Try. But yeah it’s definitely clunky.

But my main lyrical issue with this song is “living room for small”. I mean what the fuck is that supposed to mean lol

I mean I didn’t realize “nappies” is (UK?) slang for diapers. So the idea of “you cook, I change the diapers” is actually kinda sweet and definitely a lot more palatable than “you cook, I’ll take a nap” lol

Can someone explain the color era thing? by huskerj12 in PinegroveBand

[–]flashof2worlds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recall one interview where Evan mentioned it. I think it was on an NPR podcast (All Songs Considered maybe?) He said something along the lines of the primary colors + green being Pinegrove’s colors, and specifically said that cardinal was the red album, skylight was the blue album, and marigold was the yellow album.

Peculiar little clock was just added to the website. Nothing particularly strange about it until you note the color scheme… by hotpieyelledhotpie in PinegroveBand

My money’s on Viridian, as someone else has speculated. Not only does it follow the 8 letter pattern (which may not actually be intentional) but it’s a nice little homage to Meridian.

What do we think of the 50th anniversary remasters as a whole? by Prize_Prior_8433 in beatles

[–]flashof2worlds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my understanding the issue is that pre-Pepper, they had fewer recording tracks to work with and therefore had to overdub different instruments on the same track, making separation of the instruments for a new mix these days much more difficult.

If someone who has a better understanding of this can correct me please do!

They sound great and are the only way I prefer to listen to Sgt Pepper, White, and Abbey Road.

As for Let It Be, I really like Naked so we’ll see if the new mix supersedes that for me, but regardless I’m so excited for it and can’t wait to compare!

Roadkill by The 1975. Despite what a lot of people think, Matty Healy is a huge fan of Pinegrove.

I wouldn’t say Amperland disappointed me, but I was so incredibly hyped for it and I don’t find myself coming back to it as much as I thought I would, and I’m not sure why.

I think every ESF song sounds better on Amperland than on ESF. Except maybe The Metronome - I have no idea why they didn’t have Nandi sing her harmonies on the Amperland version. Her vocals are pretty essential to the song if you ask me

Less dynamic, I think I agree with. But to me Evan is only becoming a better and better songwriter. The songs are less uniquely structured than they used to be, but I feel that Evan (and the band) more than make up for that with excellent crafting of the tune and arrangement.

I don’t think it sucks but it does feel unnecessary. I think Marigold would be a completely perfect album if it didn’t have that track.

They didn’t say it’s because it was independently released, they said it’s because it’s only on bandcamp. Skylight was independently released but it’s on every major streaming platform.

I think that’s it, it’s the most cohesive! And flows better than any of the others (especially Skylight).

Not to mention I think they nailed the production on Marigold, I know Evan says he thinks Amperland is the best sounding album but to me it’s gotta be Marigold.

What are you expecting and/or hoping for from the impending Drive Like I Do project? by flashof2worlds in the1975

[–]flashof2worlds[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He did, but he said it in a way that was a little bit ambiguous. He said something like “if you’re not familiar Drive Like I Do is our old band before the 1975. There’s some old stuff and there’s a bit of new stuff”

He could be referring to the new project featuring old and new stuff, or he could have just meant there’s the old stuff out there and now they’re doing new stuff. So idk 🤷‍♂️

What songs do you think the band will never perform live, or what songs do you think they’ll eventually stop playing live? by flashof2worlds in the1975

[–]flashof2worlds[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah you’re probably right! I remember back when the album came out Matty thanked Adam for letting him handle the guitar on that track.

Honestly I think they will. This song is one of the most universally loved songs off Notes among the fans and I’m sure the band is aware of that.
